Erm... Wow

The 'black attitude' comment

Is also a brush to tar him with.

Also, 50 witnesses and only 2 jumped in to help? I hope thats been inncaurately reported...

Well, the forum isn't there any more...

Conveniently timed eh?

yeah, my friend is the bassist

Its not at all suprising that they sound like the kooks considering they share a manager. So yeah, you like the kooks, then the hot melts are a safe bet.

The faint...

Sound of 12 keyboards proving you wrong.

All of the artists that could have done a radiohead

None please me more than this.

Fuck. Yeah.

Not the album.

Stars as a whole maybe... However, all told, Mr Shapiro has not done the best job of describing a show by an absolutely fantastic live band, and if it was anything like the Manchester show, then he wouldn't have devoted so much attention to this (admittedly gorgeous sounding) young filly...

Yeah, I'm with you on both of those

Field music is ace, but Bloc Party is let down by everything after the prayer, and thus should not even be considered, plus I get the feeling that the entire album will sound very dated, very quickly.

I'm surprised no-one has mentioned that Arctic Monkeys deserve their place on the list... Unless that was a given to start with.

My additions to the list? Can't think of any. Justice jumps into my head, but they're French... TVoTR fall in, but they're American. The Dears=Canadian (commonwealth counts though, surely?)

Timbalands production=Totally crunk

Timbaland as a person=Totally wack.

Ditto

I'd take them over shit like the fratellis, kaiser chiefs, pigeon detectives and the current crop of dad-rockstars in waiting anyday.

Good article

Kinda hits the nail on the head, so to speak.

'Indie' at the moment is shite, at least the homegrown popular stuff is. You could say that this is the result of the release of Definitely maybe, a generation influenced by Oasis and all those who followed. However then you would be discounting the ones who don't sound like they're in a band just to 'ave it.

So the logical question is where next? Surely if The Twag represent a critical and popular nadir, then the only way is up, surely? Music follows fashion and fashion follows music, consequently they go round in circles. At the moment 'Indie' is the in thing, from The Strokes, to Franz Ferdinand, to the Arctic Monkeys, the cool kids have seemingly been wearing guitars. I'm too young to be able to remember the path that its all taken over the past however many decades. Once Britpop died, didn't all the dance music coming from Ibiza and American R'n'B come next? Like you said, a lot of great albums came next, and with any luck we can hope for the same now.

Are we going to be in the same situation in another 10-15 years, only its not Oasis and definitely maybe, but The Arctic Monkeys and... their first album? Or, god forbid, The Kooks?

They say the pen is mightier than the sword

So I propose shoving a Bic up his arse until it pierces something important...

Ironic way to die no?

Don't they only do that

If theres a criminal record/drugs caution involved?

Because of the concept of a necessary and opposing force.

Y'know, for all the good things in the world.

I haven't heard the album fully yet

I must be about the only person on this site who hasn't, BUT the songs I have heard make me think the same thing, i.e that it is a little 'London-centric'. Maybe 20-something centric too, but fuck it, we're the generation that matters right now, all those Late teens and 20-somethings out there are going to be the captains of industry and decision makers in the decades to come. If Bloc Party want to make an album that speaks to them of the fears and insecurities that the world has now, and will doubtlessly still have in years to come then more power to them. Maybe this album should become The UKs very own little red book, but of course, I'd have to hear it fully first.

So close!

So fucking close!

Seriously, diplomatic nightmare to all round cause for joy in one fell swoop...

Actually no... I like the Band part of razorlight, they might actually be good if they had someone with ideas...

Wichita

May very well be my favourite label ever.

I doubt they'ree going to push them into making an album right away though? I mean, Bloc Party were there for over a year before silent alarm came out right?

Dropped?

By 679? Jesus... Mystery Jets watch out... Proper shame that though, there were loads of better singles on that album other than worry about it later. Fantastic album as well. The only reason it didn't sell is that it wasn't another 'The Futureheads' So we got the automatic instead...

Awesome idea...

Now, the question is, is it worth my degree.

If these guys play, then yes

Saul Williams
TVotR
The Dears
Battles
YMSS
M83
Beirut
Patrick Wolf
Architecture in Helsinki

and my not-a-chance-in-hell pick:
The Postal Service

Ye Gads!

They have the audacity to complain and ergo are useless pricks...

God help us if you ever work in custormer services...

Deltasonic

Like deltasound...

only different (and probably with better tunes)

Fucking Gutted

Songs of praise is just... gah.

*hangs head*

Really?

Consistency is not a problem that I'd say no cities left has. I'd say its consistently fantastic...

I feel very inclined to defend this.

As I completely disagree with this review. It seems to me that you just don't like this based on the fact that you don't appear to like the approach that it takes to its chosen subject matter... You're making a personal attack on a song. Too many reviewers do this and to me, its a bit pathetic.

Fair enough, I love this song which probably doesn't give me the right to dissect this review from a completely unbiased point of view. But hey, its your opinion, just as my opinion on this review is that its an unnecessarily personal pile of wank.

Just don't review the album yeah?

BangDiS

Myself, igethitbyemokids, James 'heartbrokenstar' LAMEsworth and others will be there, you should come.

All of you.

Fuck right!

Lets just hope the New Brighton chav-brigade don't get onto it.

Ace, gigs on wirral... This never happens...

The dears

Lazy comparison man, based on the fact that both lead singers sound slightly alike. Well done wrightylew...

Its an interesting one...

Isn't it? I want to dismiss it as not very good, but theres just something there that you can't dismiss so quickly...

Glad you heard the MBV in it as well...

I asked her to marry me...

She didn't reply, she was tuning her guitar at the time...

Static X - Start A War

Was there any particular reason behind this review other than to tell us how shit Static X are? Cos' if so, cheers, but we already know...

Get behind me, Karen! Jack White gets hitched

Karen Elson is my friends cousin don't you know... She's also a massive white stripes fan & is gutted/thrilled that she's now related to Jack (she kinda wanted him for herself)

- Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith

What, the NOOOOOOOOOOOO! with all the shaking & the body language of a constipated robot to accompany it? The lowest point of an otherwise superb final 40 minutes.

Nice way of explaining how Anakin Skywalker is about 6ft tall at the most & Vader is well over 7 foot tall... They chopped off his legs & gave him bigger ones. Wonderfully simple.

The Coral - The Invisible Invasion

The Coral are NOT a Liverpool. None of them live in Liverpool, or were born in Liverpool. They're from the other side of the Mersey, Hoylake, West Kirby & probably one or two other places. My bet is that if they were from Liverpool, they wouldn't sound anything like they do...

Oasis

Fair enough, the guy likes them & all... But I'm still allowed to say Oasis are a bit wank without getting lynched right?

...Just checking...

Coldplay - Speed Of Sound

I like it, its coldplay alright. Which is actually a compliment to the band, as opposed to saying Its Oasis alright, about an Oasis record.

It even sounds like the drummer grew some balls during this song... astounding.

Daft Punk - Human After All

seconded, thirded & fourthed...

This album is one of the most dissaoppointing albums I've ver heard in my life. Discovery was something else entirely & this... this is just shit. Robot Rock is as good as anything they've ever done though.

*sigh* I just guess i hoped for more...

DJ Format - If You Can't Join 'Em... Beat 'Em

EA... bah, only good for Burnout 3. Whaddagame

LCD Soundsystem - Daft Punk Is Playing In My House

Lay off The LCD. Nice broad minded attitude to music there mate, slagging off a single from an awesome album just because you believe the guy behind it to be all of the above.

If it makes him make music as funky as this, then i'll fucking pay for his coke habit...

WE BELIEVE IN MUSIC (or why it’s really, really im

Was there actually a point behind that article? However Indie they may be they've still got the same team of tastemakers & Hype-squad that Franz, Kaisers, The Coral (remember them?) and the like have had behind them. It's mot a blow for the kidz out there doing this, its another affirmation that the British Indie Scene is a very managed, unspontaneous, soul-less thing, If it weren't, would there be half as much posturing put forward to try & prove evidence to the contrary?

I love Bloc Party... But i dunno, they seem over-exposed already. I mean of all the bands I've heard this year, granted they seem like the ones I can relate to the most (as people & with the whole ideas in their head) but theres somethign there that I don't like about it...

Hey, look on the bright side. I xan't think of band thats polarised opinion that much on this site in a while...

The Killers

I went to the Liverpool gig last night, The Killers were a soul-less pile of wank, Futureheads blew them away & then some... Missed most of Bloc Party due to cocking up with door times... My fault annoyingly, but what I saw was superb...

America or Buster

indeed, very good article, you seemed to have turned some peoples opinions of busted also, congrats

Death of the single, continued...

Downloads have the potential to make more money surely? I mean for one, there is the factor of instant access, one click & you're away. Plus its a LOT cheaper to out out there, why spend x amount of thousands on Single artwork, producing the cds, delivering, plus all the associated promotional costs when you can just hand a CD-R to your web department & say 'here, stick this on the bands website & mail it to every Pay-per-download site between here & Timbuktu' Its simple business, minimising costs, maximising profits...

Downloading becoming the premier market for promoting albums is probably the ideal situation for record companies, it makes them more money. Hell, they've probably envisioned something like this since they realised that the single was a loss leader, they've just had to wait until now for the technology to catch up.

Noel Gallagher: New Oasis record ready to roll

Why can't they just fuck off & die...

Busted - is the end nigh?

Give me busted over babyshambles any day of the week...

It's an Ordinary world, again, for Boys drummer Ch

Somewhere... deep in the valleys of Wales, past the Llangoeds & the Aberfridds, there lies a a town... well I say town, I mean 3 huts & a field. A town where a man can live in harmony with sheepy brethren, free from mockery & persecution... This town my freinds has one surname for the entire populace... Cable

I AM CABLE! HEAR ME BLEAT!

Cooper Temple Clause: End of Year Tour

OI! OI! OI!

Cooper Temple Clause: End of Year Tour

Tonight in Bangor, here goes, I'll be fucking pissed off if theres a low attendance, People complain about there not being enough gigs in Bangor, & when they do actually come they don't show up. Come on, what else you gonna do, Go The Octagon?

Michael Moore - Fahrenheit 9/11

I wonder If Mr Moore has realised that if this film is the winning offensive in his crusade to topple Bush, thenhe'll effectively be out of a job come November?
