Good point, The_Glory

I think Kele is right about how dumb and depressing tabloid culture is, but it's hardly fair to blame Oasis for that. Noel Gallagher is obviously bright and funny, and his own past comments make it clear that he knows Oasis ran out of ideas 11 years ago.

no, you'd run away crying

if she came anywhere near you. Your post fails to disguise your fear, soft lad.

Lady Sov is tiny dynamite

...and I hope she gets well soon.

At least

they called it a day quickly, rather than hanging around boring the arse off everyone for years, like so many bands do...

Arse

I really liked them, excellent album. Will go and play "We'll Never Be Friends" and have a bit of a sniffle now...

Really looking forward to this!

There are loads of good bands on, plus Summer Sundae is a really nice, laid-back event. Capacity is only 5,000, so it's easy to wander between indoor and outdoor stages in Demontfort Hall and its pretty grounds, and there is a proper bar and proper toilets!!! It's also only a short walk from Leicester City Centre and the railway station, which is a lot better than some bloody field in the middle of buggering nowhere.

I hear that Matt Heafy of Trivium

was hit by a blue shoe hurled his way whilst the band were headbanging in well-rehearsed formation through a version of Iron Maiden's "The Trooper" at Birmingham Academy. The fact that it was a blue shoe just somehow made it funnier.

I once saw someone take off both their shoes and throw them into the crowd below from their vantage point the embankment during a bottle-fight at Donington.

I have seen other stuff thrown at bands, but I would not wish to deviate from the important topic of SHOES!!!

I just want to say (again)

that I can't stand the twatty little runts.

Thank you.

Be Your Own TOUR

Why are they playing down the road from me the same night I'm seeing 65days & YMSS in Nottingham, dammit?!

Re: The Lucky Nine - True Crown Foundation Songs:

This will surely be one of my fave albums of 2005 - love it! Doran is turning into a bit of an unlikely rock god...

Re: Twunts of London tour: big f*cking deal

They're playing Birmingham. Joy unbounded:(

Re: Derby's Victoria Inn threatened with closure

The Vic Inn is a great venue with a great dog(!) This is shit news, but I have the feeling we might just beat the forces of evil this time. Speak up now!

Re: Larrikin Love - Six Queens / Little Boy Lost

Funny - when I heard this band on Xfm the other night, the exact words "sub-Libertines tosh" sprang to mind...

Re: Primal Scream artist commits suicide

Sad to hear about this.

P.S. If anyone would care to hold waterwings, I will gladly batter him. Thanks.

EXCLUSIVE: 65 Days of Youthmovie - Tour

Nottingham for me, I guess. I too would like to know what YMSS 'thoughts' on Birmingham are - as far as I know they have never played here, only Wolverhampton.

Shouldn't let it put me off, anyway - they're only the support band, right?:)

Re: Pulling the wires from the wall: Delgados get on their bikes

I am gutted, too. They were a great band, and only getting better (sob...)

Re: Rolling stones gather no Moss; a Babyshambles does...

DrFurry, I salute you. There are a lot of guys (and it is mostly guys, I'm afraid), who just need to grow the fuck up.

Luke Haines learns to love The State Funeral of Winston Churchill

Glad tidings in this septic isle...

Re: iPod users: bowing to fashion or filling to capacity?

Everyone on here is as technologically literate as I thought they'd be. Me, I'm with Ultraglideinblack on this one - old-fashioned as it is, I like to know what's going on around me when I travel (and I'm afraid a lot of what's going on around me is people audibly listening to music on gadgets like ipods, so I've really been put off adding to this). I can see the attraction of just tuning out and listening to something I actually enjoy, but no way would I ever spend £200 on a gadjet - that money goes on CDs, every time!

Re: Teenage Fan Club return

I did love TFC dearly back in the early '90s. Going to see 'em again a year or two back was a big mistake, tho'. They have got so old, and so have I...

Norman had a haircut so atrocious he actually apologised for it, plus he was wearing a jumper that should've been able to apologise for itself. I don't expect everyone to look like Interpol or The Bled or anything, but come on...

Re: Lamacq goes five days a week on 6music

Really pleased about this - Lamacq was the smartest journalist on the NME back when I was a girl (not difficult, perhaps...) and the one who seemed most genuinely into the music, so it's good to still have him around. Won't miss Andrew Collins either (smug, annoying bastard). I'd be happier still if they'd given Lammo the 7-10 evening slot, getting rid of Tom "play my own records? Me?" Robinson.

Having seen Lamacq 'in real life', I can confirm that he does not make a good advert for the music journo lifestyle - radio is a wonderful thing, especially digital radio:)

Re: B&S the best band in Scotland. Ever. Ever... Ever!

I do love Belle & Sebastian. Also nice to see Trashcan Sinatras sneak into Top 30, and The Vaselines get a nod. How did Pish sneak in there, though? :(

Idlewild did pretty well considering they made one good album (Hope Is Important), then went completely shite. I suppose they'll get into the top 10 in 20 years' time, in their capacity as the new Simple Minds.

Thank you Mahabharat - always wondered who made that record about having a 3 foot tall plastic Patrick Swayze under their bed!

Re: Gay Murder - Music Blamed

What is sky mangell? Is it like a satellite dish device? How is it gay? What's it got to do with Elephant Man and Sizzla and all their shite records?

I do try to get out, but I fear I am not keeping up...

Re: Bono: "I'm rubbish, me."

"I want to run, I want to hide/I want to tear down the walls that hold me inside". Or something like that, I think.

Has anyone ever heard the song "Jesus Hates U2" by The Last Party? Mighty record by a great lost band...

Somewhere Only We Moan: Why I Hate Keane

Re: The Ordinary Boys - "Tara Palmer Tomkinson... what the hell is she famous for?"

No, sorry - if you think any English seaside town is 'the worst place imaginable', you are very lucky in the places you have visited! Most people who slag off Worthing, Bognor, Eastbourne and such places have never visited them and don't know what they are talking about. If you want an example of real boring, violent small-town hell, try the Scottish Central Belt (where I grew up). The Ordinary Boys are frankly unfit to even allude to Morrissey, even if he is nice about them. It's truly horrible to see such self-righteous little rich kid fakes showing their ugly mugs all over the place - gah!

Re: The Ordinary Boys - "Tara Palmer Tomkinson... what the hell is she famous for?"

FACTS:

1) Worthing is good.
2) The Ordinary Boys are a load of old knickers.

Thank you for listening.

Re: Ireland: No smoking - UK next? Should fags be

Yeah, ban smoking, ban throwing beer, ban talking at gigs, moshing, mobile phones, tall people standing in front of you, ban anything that anyone might possibly object to. I don't go in for any of these things myself, and living in a big city I find my tolerance of other people's behaviour is tested on a more or less daily basis, but can't we all just relax a bit? Why do so many threads seem to turn abusive?

Re: Von Bondage Around the UK

Saw 'em on the NME Tour, and they looked like a band whose moment had passed somehow. Reports I heard from elsewhere indicated a similar feeling. Or was that just a minor skirmish in the UK-US culture wars? What does the panel think?
