p.s.

the line has blurred between what DiS likes and what Vice mag likes a bit i think...
i mean, there hasnt even been one boring-as-fuck post rock cd in this top 20 right?

wives

i put those fellas on once and they stayed at my flat when i'd never done a show for vegans before and it was like:

'dude you got any hummus?'

'no'

'ok............dude, you got any soy milk'

'no.'

'ok.............dude you got any, like cereal?'

'will wheetos do?'

'i don't think so man'

'no, then.'

"the sole reason to see Dizzee live is to laugh at DJ Semtex and his lack of a right arm. That shit

has Dis been cadging its reviewers from Buddyhead this past couple months?

liberal pop hegemony

"On another note; would it be heresy to suggest music might actually benefit from a few outspoken conservative figures capable of engaging the wet-blanket, down-with-famine liberal pop hegemony?"

the most amusing thing about music in britain today is how many people are in front of enormous stages as impromptu morally branded music festivals, listening to protest songs on their IPODS and saying they will save the environment and end poverty.

fucking idiots.

if you want to end poverty and save the environment the first thing that needs to go is mass consumption of shit like Ipods and huge pointless music concerts with people who own 50 houses like Madonna asking people to jump up and down.

another interview

we did this one as a prelude to the newcastle show if anyone's interested

http://portionsforfoxespromo.blogspot.com/2007/10/interview-with-will-sheff-of-okkervil.html

" i realised that politics is a disease"

load of crap. ignoring politics or imagining you can isolate music from it entirely is delusional. the reason we have no decent politically active singers and all the new bands are quick to jump on the MTV-Session band-wagon as soon as they get the chance is because of this exact stupid fucking fallacy that credible art exists in isolation to the political and social landscape.

even if it was a simple address,i'd rather some ineloquent punk get pissed off at corporate branding than hear lilly allen's latest story on getting revenge on her bloke. oh well.

can someone please explain in idiot terms

exactly what this commenting system does, there's still articles with 6 votes above those 30-odd.
the cynic in me says this is pointless as the pope's cock....could be wrong

get cape wear cape

seen him live a couple of times, in between songs started to go into a mumbled rant about racism that was along the lines of 'racism is bad, people need to stop being racist'. people cheered, and rightly so, but i wouldn't have said it was especially inspiring.

one time was in a Carling Academy, too. i figure if your going to preach inspiring politics, be at least slightly radical and boy cott corporate sponsored venues...

however, saw Strike Anywhere at the melkweg in Amsterdam this year and left with a burning urge to be a better person.

i've taken several meetings with the vice staff

hahahaha. Annie Hall.

crap

i hate that every 'exciting' new band in Britain just makes some really obvious observations about the NME indie culture it exists in, and after that, has fuck all to say and fuck all vision, 'message' whatever.

You don't have to drudge up the most mundande chip-shop/indie club imagery to be 'authentic' and 'real'.

i'd pay £100 to see some British rock that can put across some profound sentiments without pandering to this same old same old indie club 'comin up from the streets' bullshit.
most of the people making this music and getting excited over it are further from the street than the average skyscraper loft.
