the most interesting thing written on this site for years.

nah

absolutely slating something is fun. extremely positive reviews and extremely negative reviews are the most entertaining/useful.

...

average dj and producer. no great loss in that sense.

and an idiot for taking weed to any airport, let alone one in the middle east.

that said, the sentence is absolutely insane.

get this:

http://www.amazon.com/Venomous-Villain-Viktor-Vaughn-Doom/dp/B0002JE91A

MF Doom in his Viktor Vaughan alter ego. his best album, in my opinion.

the dangerdoom album, mouse and the mask, is also v good but ruined to some extent by the irritating long skits.

my comment sounded

harsher than i meant it to be. it was supposed to be semi-constructive criticism of his over wordiness...

no

you didnt recruit well, you recruited a kid with verbal diarrhoea who tried to make reviews of bands sound like a masterpiece by salman rushdie. stop trying so hard kids, noone's impressed by your use of a thesaurus. completely unreadable.

no offense.

has there ever been a better ending to an album

than de larocha's primal howling of 'freedom'??

nope is the answer.

I pray RATM come to the UK

soon.

air = boring coffee table

music for people who think that including air in their feeble collection makes them have a varied music taste.

and surely

the very existence of this website shows that music is not dying. it is in fact alive and well.

simon cowell should still be hung drawn and quartered though.

this album is amazing.

it is churlish to compare it to funeral, but inevitable. i think it is not quite as good as funeral, but very few albums are. funeral was perfection, this is just a whisker away.

9/10.

i like this album alot.

8.5/10.

this is absolutely shit.

boring as hell, pretentious and cringeworthy. 6/10. i've listened to it three times and am now going to delete all record of it and never listen to it again.

the re-recording of atlantis to interzone

is brilliant.

i think this is a really good album, alot of fun.

i like pete doherty...

that's all i have to say on the matter.

off the top of my head:

Clap your hands say yeah - the skin of my yellow country teeth

Long Blondes - Giddy Stratospheres

Beirut - Mount Wroclai

Islands - Rough Gem

Spank Rock - Backyard Betty

Brakes - Cease and Desist

Born Ruffians- The sentence will end/ruin your life

Spinto Band - Oh Mandy

Hot Chip - Over and Over

Flaming Lips - Yeah Yeah Yeah song

Jordan and Peter Andre - A whole new world

(last one is a joke).

looking at this list

reminds me of how underwhelmed i have been by this year's releases..

**NEWSFLASH**

SCISSORS SISTERS OBSESSIVE IN HILARIOUS 'ORIGINALITY' OUTBURST BLOOPER.

more to follow soon...

yay!

i love 'em.

nope, that song was

complete toss too. and shouldnt be mentioned in the same breath as over and over.

ok, fair point.

i think dom misjudged that bit slightly.

...

What a load of crap some of you are talking. I hate Scissor sisters because their atrocious music makes me feel nauseous. The sexual orientation of their singer is a complete irrelevance. Though, as they make the most of their gayness and capitalise on their gay following, it is fair for a reviewer to refer to it.

But all in all I would rather deep fry myself in a vat of boiling lard than listen to their music.

he's a berk.

and his music sucks.

grrrr scissor sisters:

worse than the holocaust.

i'm fed up

arguing with people about pete d. i think babyshambles are a good band. i think pete is a great front man, he writes good songs with excellent lyrics.

i am not surprised that this ep is very good. beg steal or borrow is an excellent song.

Praise be unto Jah!

i (and i) love trojan records. this sounds like a break from the normal trojan comps, and so it must be purchased by all trojan obsessives.

"Jeeves, fetch my carriage: then to HMV, post haste!"

It makes me feel old

because i havent heard of numbers:

1,2,6,8,10,15,17,20,36,37,44,46,47,49.

maybe i should start readin nme again. or maybe not.

d'ya reckon

he made up his drug habit to give him more cred?

great review

it almost makes me think i might like the album.

but i don't think i will.

i must say

i found her 'baby voice' a little tiresome on her first album, though loved some of her songs.

i will certainly check this out though on the back of this excellently written review.

have to disagree

that 'placebo is undoubtedly one of the best alternative rock records of the 20th century'. that is hyperbole if ever i heard it.

but then again i really do not like them and never have. his whiney voice makes me want to scrape my eardrums out with a rusty razor.

i think you will find

that ewmy knows best actually what Mr Peel wouldve wanted.

couldnt you tell that by the outrage he showed? he must be the biggest fan and kindred spirit of john peel in the world.

i would be

very surprised if his family receive no royalties from the use of his image and name.

ruined

that rant by the last sentence. surely your point is that any single cd compilation cannot sum up the great man's taste?

since

without you guys i would never have had my life changed by the likes of neutral milk hotel, the unicorns, tapes&tapes, spinto band and many more.

i still rely on word of mouth for types of music that dis isnt great at covering (hip hop, dance music etc)- but for indie no other source is necessary.

getting too old to go to gig after gig looking for a great new band, ill let you guys do the hard work.

amazon lists are too hit and miss. i mean who makes those lists?

myspace is good for hearing new bands, but not for actually hearing ABOUT them.

that mtv 2 show late on saturdays is good too.

it does sound very good.

but i would also strongly recommend downloading his festive 50's (at xmas every year his listeners would vote for their fave songs of the year and this would form the list of 50). you can get every year since about 1976 online (for free). these are sprawling and contain plenty of duffers, but some absolute gems too. and some great comments from John in between records.

RIP John.

the best review

i have read on here for some time.

it's even enough to make me open soulseek, type the name in and nick it.

still not gonna buy it though, they're not gonna need my dough- this will sell like hotcakes.

apparently they sell very well in some places.

didnt realise

the bluetones were still going.

used to love them when i was about 15 and expecting to fly came out.

can't say i will be buying this one though.

excellent review

There's some great stuff

on this list. the unicorns, arcade fire, and radio dept all change my life. for the better.

i still do not 'get' the tv on the radio album though.

This shite is to music

what Mcdonalds is to fine cuisine.

AAAARGHHH!!!

IS THE WORLD GOING MAD???

I love the vengaboys, i cant wait until their greatest hits come out. all these indie snobs that slag them off, what's all that about? cheeky girls too. brilliant.

im confused

are the people on here professing to like this SHITE being ironic?

what the FUCK?

A best of from a 'band' that have been around 5 minutes and released nothing but drivel!!??

2 cd's worth of the shite too.

i am inexplicably furious about this. i need to chill out.

surprised

whiter shade of pale by procul harum isn't there.

personally i would go for tourettes by nirvana.

if you knew your history, arschloch,

youd know if it wasnt for the americans we would probably be speakin russian right now, considering the germans had failed on their eastern front and the russians were advancing, intent on going all the way.

i wouldnt expect you to know that though.

plus, if it wasnt for europeans, none of you redneck pricks wouldve been born. and the world would be a safer, cleaner and happier place.

you CAN'T slag off byop

, theyre too much fun. and she is a fox with a great voice. she's the sort of rock chick juliette lewis wishes she was.

bog and bunk trunk skunk are brilliant tunes.

i agree

it is another crap review. we don't know what the product is and what it contains. you havent done your job, mr kharas.

i assume, that this is a collection of their favourite tracks that they might put on on their tourbus.

i do not have a problem with such an album. if you like a band, then to hear what music they like and what music is influencing them can be interesting. it may introduce someone to amazing bands that they may never otherwise have heard of.

of course, it is also a way of a record company making money. we live in a capitalist society. companies produce things with the intention of making money. get over it. at least its not arms.
