America unites for ATP '06
How how how am I supposed to find £500? Who has indie friends who are that organised? Fuck's sake. Looks like I'll have to give up on my ATP dreams again this year.
Bob 'n' Bono among faves for Peace Prize
This just kinda proves that the Nobel Peace Prize is a bit of joke - remember that Henry Kissinger got it in the '70s for his role in the coup that brought General Pinochet to power in Chile.
Re: Bob 'n' Bono among faves for Peace Prize
Oh, and about the corruption thing - it takes two to make a bribe work. I don't place all the blame on third world officials as it suits our leaders very well to keep them sweet and politically on 'our' side.
Re: Bob 'n' Bono among faves for Peace Prize
Sadly, the deal was that for every penny dropped in debt, Britain would also drop in aid. Total con - take a peak at these articles:

Isn't that the Liskeard date - Carnglaze Caverns? Don't know it but it sounds pretty cavey...
CHARTATTACKKKKKK: Top 75 rundown
Did nobody pick up on this horror:
"we find our left-of-field musings represented at 11 (Stereophonics)"
We? Our? Left-of-field? Stereophonics are none of these. Horrible cock-rock is what they are and about as MOR as they come.
Yuck.

Demo Nirvana: 22-track compilation due
According to another news source:
"On November 1, DGC will unveil a twenty-two-track compilation titled Sliver: The Best of the Box, featuring three unreleased songs and a chunk from 2004's With the Lights Out box set. "
What a monumental rip. You can't justify this. The big record companies bring illegal file sharing on themselves. I didn't buy the 'Greatest Hits' for 'You Know You're Right' and I won't buy this. It's just an insult. I spend a fortune on music but I'm not as mindless as DGC clearly thinks.

Re: The Dandy Warhols - Odditorium or Warlords of Mars
That would be nice - a welcome redirection of corporate funds into the indie world! I would like to believe that of the Dandy Warhols.
The Dandy Warhols - Odditorium or Warlords of Mars
Hey, I love the Dandy Warhols, even the much-maligned Monkey House, but their "dangerous inability to fit with the 'corporate' plan" is long dead. The corporate plan is to make tonnes of cash by selling us back our own culture, as typified by the re-release of Bohemian Like You following a big fat $$$-making corporate ad. I'm glad they're still following the plan musically (by the sounds of this review) but once you sell out you remain sold. Of course, if offered the chance who's to say I wouldn't jump? That debate's as old as Paul McCartney.
Re: This month's Q list: Beatles top poll of 'Best British Song'
The current editor used to work for Loaded, for god's sake. That's the Q mentality these days - glad to hear the other guy resigned. On the Q TV channel they have shows like 'FHM Presents Chart Hotties'. Awful, awful, awful. It's become a lad-infested wank mag for big sale/no talent dullards where women aren't allowed unless they're willing to show off their big tanned boobs. Depressing
Chin-Chiller: Chris quits Art Brut
Have they set up a counselling line like when Robbie left Take That?
Anyone remember the song 'Robbie Left Take That' by The Pin-Ups? It was great...

Re: CD:UK's new recruits: Klass, Laverne and some other guy
Abso-drinkin'-lutely. Love Kenickie and their Friday night hijinks. Glad Lauren's still got a career, she's the only reason for listening to XFM. It's odd, I hated Jo Whiley for moving from Evening Session to chart whatever lunch time slot - mind you, she was always a secret chartster. I imagine Lauren knows it's shite and will raise an eyebrow accordingly, like that guy who used to interview Westlife types and goad them into being homophobic.
Pop justice! McFly to claim top spot
DiSinterested...
Tiger Force - Go Back To Your Glass House/Teeeeth
If you've got Melt-Banana you don't need Tiger Force. The review aptly describes M-B. In fact, when I saw TF live they had a ten-second song called 'Cat and Cakey', which proves that they are ripping M-B off as fast as they can.
Back to Bluntdom: Your 'Beauty' Corrupted The Kids
I hate James Blunt, he sounds like Rod Stewart.

Madonna Hung Up over new single
Why is DiS telling us about Madonna? Waste of space. I can find this out anywhere.
Funeral For A Friend headline post-wha'eva tour in November
Tired old band peddling late '90s/early '00s US pretend punk in the style of Blink 182, Sum 41 and all those turds.
The Long Blondes - Appropriation (By Any Other Name)
This single seems to sound quite like Elastica - a comparison I've oftern read but never quite understood until now. But it's much more sussed and savvy and words like that. Go and buy it and download other stuff from www.filthylittleangels.com.

Well, the NME has them as 'rumoured' but of course that doesn' t mean much...

Re: Grolsch Summer Set: Tears before bed time? I should coco...
Grolsch is the best! It's got a weird taste but I love it, even though it costs a fortune. Also, I've heard it's the only mainstream lager that doesn't have any strange animal products in to help the brewing along.
Re: Foo Fighters - In Your Honour
Yeah, it turns out Foo Fighters can inspire strong emotions after all...
SFA take their Love Kraft on the road
does anyone know for sure if sfa are playing glastonbury?
Re: Arctic Monkeys - Five Minutes With Arctic Monk
I think the problem with Ash is that they used to be amazing, back in the Trailer and 1977 days. By comparison they're now really dull and derivative. The old energy and summer fun seems to have disappeared into adult m.o.r. snow patrol mush. Sorry if you disagree but can you imagine them pulling off another Kung Fu these days?
Sleater-Kinney - "We’re all really opinionated, intelligent and pretty obstinate human beings..."
I love S-K, isn't it great when your favourite bands don't turn out to be arseholes? I used to be a big Smashing Pumpkins fan...
Carling drinkers: your music taste is as poor as your taste in beer...
Carling is piss and I hate going to their frigid, soulless venues.
What a shitty list of performers, why did they bother? We've all known for years that Nirvana, Jimi Hendrix and so on are great - Mr Carling's opinion is worthless and changes nothing.
And, frankly, Oasis haven't been a 'current band' for years - they're deadder than Keith Moon.

Re: Long Blondes tour UK, appear on radio, do US
Yeah, that was them. You can download from their website - www.thelongblondes.co.uk and from www.filthylittleangels.com (.co.uk?). I'd give em a listen, if I were you - it took me a few turns but now I'm in love. Right up there with Kenickie, no question.
Bearsuit
Absolute joy, cutest band I've ever seen. They will surely take over the indie world.
Bearsuit
What a fantastic and joyous gig! You can't fail to love this band, they are life-affirming geniuses. Beautiful people making beautiful music, nothing 'eeeew' about them.
Kylie cancels Glasto after breast cancer diagnosis
Oh no, I'm going to hell. Was I the only one to think 'phew' about her not playing Glastonbury? I'm glad it looks like nothing terrible's going to happen to her, maybe I'll get away with a few centuries in purgatory.
She's just not right for Glastonbury, I was mighty pissed off when I found out she'd been booked. Good pop or no, she's a classic case of style over content - surely the opposite of the whole Glastonbury ethos? They used to put acts like her on the comedy guest slot (Tony Bennet, Rolf Harris...). If I want to see chart pop bands flaunt their lavish stage shows I'll go to V.

Re: Belle And Sebastian - Push Barman To Open Old Woun
My Baby Takes The Morning Train was by Sheena Easton. It's a hilariously cheesey song in Monica Queen territory but I think the whole Lazy Line thing works a treat.
Reasons to love Coldplay #1: Martin attacks EMI’s ‘Corporate Evil’
Well, y'know, that's very nice but when you sign to EMI you know you're getting in bed with a corporate behemoth. I'm glad Chris Martin's using his influence to raise awareness of issues of injustice in and out of the music industry, but perhaps if Coldplay were signed to an indie they could walk the walk and not just line the shareholders' pocketses, precious.
