it's SYMBOLIC

it signifies THE END

re: that nickelback song

it was on the radio in the car this morning and i turned it off, to outcries of annoyance from my sister and mum. when i informed them that it's possibly the worst song ever written (definitely in the top ten, at least), i got a response of "don't be stupid. it's supposed to be IRONIC, you know." i died a little bit inside.

ace!

really looking forward to the new album.

this is quite possibly the only news story ever

that could result in a sequence of posts sticking up for james blunt.

didn't watch it, don't care, but

i genuinely thought that picture was a woman and stared at it for about half a minute trying to figure out who she was.

bon iver!

if this is true, i may go to this.

yeah

the problem i have with 'indie kids' listening to girls aloud is not that they listen to girls aloud, it's the way they feel the need to justify it. there's nothing wrong with saying you sometimes enjoy commercial pop music because it's catchy and fun, but all this stuff about how they're breaking the boundaries of pop and being all 'edgy' and 'adventurous' is just another form of elitism: "yeah, we listen to pop music, but only GOOD and UNIQUE pop music that's better than the usual rubbish, okay?"

i have only listened to this once

but so far it's sounding very, very promising.

also,

does anybody know if the wee red bar is over 18s too?
i will not be happy if so.

nooooo

they're supporting okkervil river? now i'm EVEN MORE pissed off that it's over 18s :(((

ace!

september is ages away though :(

:(

no scotland.

this is good :)

it would be really great if

they managed to write a whole album of songs as good as 'trains to brazil'.

the article in question does sound slightly twattish

but i find it fairly patronising that what this guy basically seems to be saying is that working class =/= intelligent.
it really fucking irritates me how everything has to be about 'class', too. it's just more ridiculous, unnecessary categorising.

the single is nice

but rocks and daggers is better, fer sure.

^ definitely

i'm looking forward to this one also :)

all i have to say to this

is shush, shrek 2 is great.

no scotland

:(

this > malcolm middleton

yep.

most universally hated band on dis?

i think we have a winner.

predictable, but

where is armchair apocrypha, you losers? >:O
in all seriousness, only one album on here would make my personal list (possibly two, at a push). that said, i've heard a grand total of four of them.

i don't really care that much about the list

since i knew from the start i was only going to have heard about 5 of the albums on it anyway.
that said, i'm a little disappointed to see armchair apocrypha so low, it hasn't had nearly enough love on here.
also kinda surprised at how low hissing fauna is... not cause i like it, just because it seems to be near the top of everyone else's list. but then, i guess you guys didn't want to be TOO predictable, right? :D

i have no idea

but i'd just like to mention that i don't listen to a single one of the associated artists listed at the top of this article. does that make me a dis freak? probably :(

wait, i don't understand

are they banning people from LISTENING to racist/sexist/homophobic etc lyrics? or from writing them? or from performing them live?
either way, it's going to be pretty impossible to implement, i'd think. but then since when have laws had to be practical?
also, what about songs that talk about killing people who AREN'T minorities? are they banned too? THIS WHOLE THING IS SO STUPID OMG.

i LOVE how

'saturday' gets censored on the sidebar :D

^ excellent post

also, in reference to this part: "I tend to hate much more music than I am able to admire, like or even just tolerate" - that just seems stupid to me. i honestly can't think of very much music at all off the top of my head that i actually HATE. there is lots and lots of music i am indifferent to, but that's quite a different thing. this stuff about "lack of intelligence, foresight, personality and imagination"; is that really a reason to hate something? when you meet a boring, slightly dim, unimaginative person, does that merit hatred? i'm guessing not. people put too much energy into hating things when they could be putting it into finding more things to love.

lolz, drama

OMG why is the DiS top 50 not exactly the same as my personal top 50??!?1 IT'S A TRAVESTY. i mean, it's like the list is based on SUBJECTIVE OPINION or something ridiculous like that. seriously DiS, WTF.
also, i think the voting system may be a bit screwed up, as yesterday it was letting me vote for things multiple times :D

haha

i went with my dad too. he quite likes armchair apocrypha but i don't think the live show was exactly what he was expecting. his reaction was something along the lines of: 'uh... it was... different... very, um... experimental and avant-garde'. that made me lol a bit.

is it really bad

that i've listened to a grand total of 6 of the albums on that list?

he was

pretty incredible in glasgow too :)

or, in other words:

NO ARTISTIC MERIT
:D

injokes in all their forms

make me ridiculously happy. seriously.
that probably makes me annoying and cliquey :(

lolololol

WTF.

hahaha,

that dirrtylicious song is hilarious.

true

but it has a pretty awesome name.

i am so excited for this

:)

somebody

sounds a little bitter :D
