That is
what they sound like ain't it ? Me, I loves it.
ooh I'm all excited now
Thanks for the review and vids. I saw a Jimi Hendrix tribute band today who were perfect in every way except that they were called "Stone Free" and not "The Jimi Hendrix Experience Experience".
The answer is
(b) Buddha
Let me start by saying that I really love Lauren Laverne but ...
I'd seriously take issue with the idea that the only thing music is about is spirit ... come on, Lauren, you do need a bit if intelligence, talent, ability to write a tune, that sort of thing ...
They really do take it to another level live
much as Arcade Fire and The Feeling do.
Get with it grandad Dom ...
the album is freely available on emusic, and darn tooting it is too.
The White Horses please
from my childhood. And from my kids' childhood, Simon In The Land Of The Chalk Drawings and Trapdoor.
I think Elbow would do justice to all these classics.
Too right, chap
like when people hit 30 they stop making good music. Or like everybody under 30 who makes music is some kind of genius.
Oh and I like to think of it as the RIGHT side of 30.
It won't be happening any time soon ...
expect this "will they / wont they" soap to keep on rearing its ugly head until they "finally give in for the fans" and play the o2 Arena.
Just ordered the album
from the wonderful people at Polyvinyl. $14.00 plus $6.40 postage and packing, so that's a total of just over a tenner. Ships September 29th, the US day of release, so I should have it in time to learn all the words for the Koko gig 8-)
Could have been
Peel respecting the man's wishes, come to think of it. It would fit in with the guy's attitude. Hope you're right anyway, there's a great big candy shop out there...
A word of caution
I can't believe they'd be allowed to do this without clearance from the artists. For instance, Peel could never play the old classic Beefheart sessions because the man was reluctant to give his permission.
As well as loving this band
I also love their attitude. They appear to have more than a couple of brain cells to rub together, and personalities also.
They're fucking out of order dissing keyboards though.
LOL !
Nah, just a smitten fan. Superb live, great songs, whats not to love ?
I like Late Of The Pier.
Since when did being bratty little twats stop you making good music ?
Dunno ...
...but you missed a cracking gig in a reasonable size venue. Still, £100 ....
I'd say thats spot on.
Especially the first paragraph. I was genuinely surprised at how big they've gotten. New stuff sounds fab, too.
Two doors down is a fine bonkers pop song but ...
... he first of all says he likes the girl next door, then by the chorus its all about the girl two doors down. Am I missing something here, or is he confused ? Or paying the field ? Or fickle ? Or forgetful ?
Please let this happen ...
... it would be a very different support act for somebody. Don't know how hard Kev Kharas is but I have (very briefly) met Chris T-T and he looks like someone you wouldn't want to mess with.
Mark Ronson has gone up in my estimation ...
... although to be fair there wasn't any other way he could have gone. He is everything that is wrong with modern music embodied in one person. But this is still quite funny.
Is it by any chance ...
A - The Past Is A Grotesque Animal ?
I disagree.
Do you want a fight then ?
Its only on £1.04 at the moment ...
what's wrong with all you lusty young indie studs out there ? Think of the poor girl's feelings !
I'd put in a bid meself but the age difference would make it a particularly icky spectacle I'm afraid.
I love 'em
and your review is spot on, including the slight reservations. There's a quote from "Gregorys Girl" in there too.
I can't believe ...
you're forming an opinion based solely on this review. Go to their myspace, listen to the music, decide for yourself ! What's your band called anyway, I may like them ?
I think the Stars are superb ...
... and this album is their best work yet. There is nobody who sounds quite like them. Not for everyone, sure, but then neither are Trout Mask Replica and the White Album.
George Lamb rules !
Bright, witty and inteligent, he would be the ideal replacement for Moyles when he decides to call it a day. Are you listening Radio One ?
the password, ...
you know, the password, along with your destination of choice into the comments section below and see if it opens any doors for ya. Passwords are not case sensitive. Competition closes Monday (May 12) at 4pm - good luck!
Ah go on, it made you smile 8=)
Ladytron in London please !
Listen to Tankus The Henge
before you start saying we should ban the brit school, and ponder that the four members would never have met had it not been for said school. And the world would therefore have been a much less happy place.
Bloody Hell !
Already got tickets for Ladytron at the Astoria that night ... why are there so many bands I like ? ...
Fuck yeah !
I'm very excited about finally getting to see Kimya Dawson live 8=)
And possibly discussing the inappropriate naming of bands with The Monday Club...
I think
the three previous replies to your post prove the truth of your last paragraph. Head for foreign climes, people are not so damn up themselves there.
That's unfair !
He is quite tall
LOL !
But what if you're a girl ?
Funny, JZ ...
thats exactly whay I thought about Guns'n'Roses back in the day.
Bollocks !
Does that mean they've changed the lineup ? I was really looking forward to seeing Golden Silvers, Dennis Hopper Choppers and Derek Meins.
The bleedin' View. Had the same jeans on for four days eh lads ? Wooh, how rock and roll are YOU ? ! Four whole days ? Never mind, only another three days and you can take them round to your Mum to wash.
