Incidentally
saw them last night with napoleon turd. Having not seen either before they were both similar in that they their first 2 and last 2 songs were catchy and memorable, and the middle of their sets, I felt, was purely filler. Fair enough for upcoming bands though.
Nap 3rd didn't really grab me though, but I can see the attraction.
Danced all the way through middleman - clever, well thought out pop tunes with excellent delivery.
I think my main problem
with this review is that being a small band I haven't actually heard it's just a whole load of insults forming a "review".
Where as if this was directed at a band like, say, Crazy Town I'd at least be amused by it even if I still thought it was a shit review. If you follow me?
Personally I think the review would read better as the first and last paragraphs, and have a whole load more credibility.
Not heard this
but sloppy journalism. Going to see them tonight actually.
Everyone has been bigging them up, and as DiS didn't get there first, suppose it's only to be expected they'd get slagged off.
I'm seein 'em for the first time tonight
dare me to yell out abuse bout him crying?
they played
at a house party in leeds the other week. I didn't realise they were more than a local band. d'oh
how the fuck
did he recover from a broken knee so quickly?
Love the new album
but see where you are coming from.
All the songs sound amazing live though. Agree?
I have to agree
it does seem a lot like slagging off for the sake of it. So they are a bit generic, it's not actually a bad album.
I can't remember the last time I read a DiS album review and was actually suprised. Bloc Party could fart to the tune of Mary had a little lamb and it would probably get 9/10. A band like this can put out an album that gets the old boots a stompin and they get trashed.
I'm off to do some washing.
Seconded!
I even enjoy white guilt on the record, it not like they threw it in the middle or ought. And I plain don't understand that whole historys stranglers getting 4, it's one of my favourite bronx tunes.
Bravo chaps.
I was at the Leeds gig
and was blown away by the passion still evident in the members of Rancid.
I am MASSIVELY disappointed however, that their pre-tour spiel of doing a different set every night hasn't carried forward to the European tour from the American one. We just get treated to a "best of" (the set, from what i can remember, was very similar to that of their last tour in 2003).
Acoustic fall back down solo's = work of genius.
It seems to me...
like a jam song that they thought fuck it lets throw it on the album... Strange choice as a single but it does make me smile.
at the same time
I'd rather they attempt something like this than, say, keep trawling on about boring events in their on life and end up spurting LostProphets-esque lyrics.
