I thought he was giving up?
I still think some of his earlier stuff was great, pisses on Kanye and the like. I just wish he wouldn't keep singing about his bloody daughter all the time, does he really think anyone cares?
Not for me but...
Do you reckon they'll have Phil Collins on drums? Arf Arf
I believe in giving him a chance.
I liked the singles off the first record, got the album and it was awful. Waaaaaaay to close to it's influences.
Still think he deserves credit though, he could of stuck with Busted for a couple more years of arena tours making a mint but he quit knowing he was probably going to be ridiculed in the 'proper' music scene. Bit brave if you ask me.
I couldn't believe it
When I found out Tori Amos lived in Bude, many a quiet evening I've considered heading up North Cornwall for some good ol' stalking.
Wouldn't it be good if...
...Pete Doherty murdered Kate Moss then had an overdose. Earn his press for once.
I'm really shocked...
...Indie band slags off other indie bands in NME shocker!
Find an original sourec of publicity you dicks. I do like their new album by the way.
...
I think garbage have released enough good singles in their time to be remembered fondly by most. Even thought the last couple of albums were way behind the first two there were still some quality tracks in there. Push It was an awesome single off 2.0 as well, often gets forgotten about.
No big fan of Bizzle's but..
..this is a tremendously well written review.
Heard the new album today...
...It is a bit so-so but with some decent moments but more pressing is the fact that the production is terrible, it makes the record largely unlistenable imo.
...
The champs league music on ITV is Primal Scream 'Country Girl' I think.
...
This is a lot better than just stealing the albums as a whole......oh hang on...
p.s
I think I doodled that album cover on the back of my History book in year 8.
I demand royalties!
....
Hopefully there's a duet with the singer from Disturbed seeing as he sings like a randy monkey.
When was the last time a monkey army mobilised ground troops to invade a monkey state in the middle east? I try to keep up with current affairs but this slipped under my radar I must say.
Nice Article
I'm a fan of Morello and I like how he speaks about his move into the folkier stuff but to be frank, I thought that song he played on Jools Holland a couple of weeks ago was one of the most embarrasingly cack-handed attempts at political songwriting I've heard in a long long time.
I'm still keen to give some of the other stuff a chance though.
woo woo
This song is tremendous, cannot wait for the new album.
Looking forward to this
I've been looking forward to this, I thought 'Unholy' was a touch patchy but Martin Grech live is still one of the most impressive musical experiences of my life. His acoustic encores are jaw dropping and I hope he's got a bit of that atmos on this record.
About right
They had their day and released some good stuff but I think this is a band doing the right thing at the right time.
Well done Ash for not banging on for ever and ever becoming less and less significant. Best of luck to them I say.
Toot and come in
I like this song, it's some funktastic noise.
oh yeah and
good article by the way
Double backlash
I am well up for a backlash against the backlash. I really don't get the animosity towards Puzzle, it's baffling.
The way some people have reacted you'd think that Mogwai had just made a pop punk record. Biffy have always had massive hooks and a potentially commercial sound so now they've taken a step in that direction I am neither surprised or upset.
If people never liked them that's fair enough but the backlash from the fans seems like textbook 'I liked them first' snobbery down to a tee.
found it
The Bellrays, their myspace sports some nice tunes.
....
Wasn't that really cool soul/garage rock band on poptones? Their singer was a diva with big hair and they seemed to be flavour of the month for a bit but I cannot for the life of me remember their name. Any Help?
...
Brill, heard a couple of the new songs, some good some not so.
Amy Winehouse
I bet Amy Winehouse has got 'Mild' and 'Bitter' tatooed on her tits.
OH MY GOD
They are soooooo fucking wacky if they were any wackier they'd be fucking Timmy Mallet singing Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini.
3 hour set lists
Isn't 20 minutes of these three hour gigs being taken up by some new epic wank-fest he's written?
Can anyone confirm if it's a positive wank-fest or a shit wank-fest?
I think it's called Gossamer, which sounds a bit shit wank-fest to me.
I'd pay 37.50 to see them, I've just paid 26 quid to see the Manics and the Pumpkins are easily a tenner better than than them. Just realised I now have to judge all financial transactions opposite this one....
Has he been in the Simpsons yet?
Well? Has he?
sad sad news
The hip hop scene and music world as a whole will miss you Jayceon.
Seriously why spell an ordinary name in a wholly ridiculous way?
fair review
I'm a massive Biffy fan and I think this review is pretty much spot on, good stuff.
I'd be surprised if Folding Stars is the next single as Simon Neil has said they'd probably never even play it live as it's a bit too personal but they do work for Sony now so I guess what they say goes.
It is slightly annoying that I've tried to make my friends give Biffy a listen for years with little response and now they are hearing them on the radio and don't like what they are hearing my protestations of 'listen to the older stuff, you'll like it!' make me sound like a typical 'they used to be better' indie snob.
Ho-Hum. I still think it's a good album though.
get over it
If they just reproduced Vertigo of Bliss over and over again wouldn't everyone have a go about that as well?
Most people knew this was going to be a poppier album and I for one was well prepared for some of it's middle of the road tracks. It's still Biffy and it's still good, just a bit more mainstream, is that really such a big crime?
I think it's pretty ballsy to make such a poppier record knowing the indie backlash they faced from some of their notoriously hardcore fanbase. It would have been easier to stick with their established formula but they haven't, so what?
.......
I'd like to see him actually play a gig while pooing himself all over the place, now THAT would be rock n roll.
Popaganda was complete crap compared with Decadence.
When is everyone going to realise?
That racism against Americans is Good Racism as opposed to Bad Racism (like against black people), it's like the good/bad aids distinction.
hmmm
I love Mogwai and fucking hate the Rolling Stones but this does seem a bit pointless I must say.
Jeezy Creezy!
I'm a massive Biffy fan and I'm not imploding with anger just because a journalist doesn't like my favourite band. It's his opinion people!
The Troublegum comparison is spot on as well.
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh
He's playing in Penzance! Right after I move away after years and years of no good gigs in Penzance! Wrongness
a good review
It took me forever to get my head into Ignoto and on the first few listens this sounds more direct but still with plenty to get your teeth intoin the latter stages of the album. Absolutely loving YCNI:milo one of the first bands to excite me in a long time.
decent review
I'm really liking this album but it does seem to have lost a little bit of the quirkyness that made 'A Certain Trigger' enjoyable in favour of a more straight, almost stadium sized, rock sound. Karaoke Plays is awesome though.
my friends were going to berlin
i feel bad for them :(
Agree with jamesm but...
This is the second worst track (after pink cellphone) on an otherwise awesome record.
Woo
I love Tori but the last album was a bit pap. She lives in Bude as well, many a summers day I've considered heading up there to wander round and hopefully stalk her round sainsburys.
nice review
This gig kicked my ass. I was a little scared having not seen them for five years and not consistently listened to them for a while that it just wouldn't 'DO' it for me so to speak but it did. Fucking classic band and a classic gig.
spot on review
This is just how I felt about this album.
It's stadium rock perfection, hook after hook after hook. Each song trouncing the one before for anthemic bliss until 'Why do I keep counting?' blows them all away with It's monstrous singalong chorus.
I hated this band now I find them rather agreeable.
Yes...I would
But only if they were well spazzified, not just crippled.
Better Idea
The whole of Reign in Blood in full, with everyone going nuts and stripping the church bare.
'I Love Lake Tahoe' by A
I've been banging on about this being my funeral song for years, but only if I'm consumed by something.
If I died in a boring way I'd want an hour of groaning and sobbing.
bloody kasabian
You may have ruined pro evo 5 but you'll never ruin emo!!!!!!!
amen
to that ^
Matt Bellamy should play Jeff
...as he's already spent a few years doing it. Arf Arf!

Mon The Boss!
This is a good review of Springsteen, many an hour I've ranted away in the pub trying to convince people of the points you make here about his superior songwriting. I feel he misses out on some credibility purely because he's still alive and still making records, If he'd burnt out before Born in the USA he'd probably be canonised by now.
All this said though I didn't think this album was all that great, there's a few anthems that will no doubt get the fist pumping live and some lovely melancholy moments but overall I'm not really feeling it.
I love the E Street sound but feel as though Bruce's best writing is done with an acoustic guitar nowadays (Devils and Dust was amazing)and I'd like to see him stick with some of the reflective stuff rather than the bombast.
He's still the fucking boss though.
