His story may start off like that of your everyday "run of the mill" rapper, An inner city kid born into a struggling family who dreamed of being something bigger, But Leon Legacy is far from your average emcee. His passionate, heart felt lyrics artfully spun into a fast pace, high-energy lyrical cyclone, accompanied by soaring often anthemic hooks and explosive energy on stage are enough to set him a part from the crowd. But don't think for a second that any of this just comes naturally to him, it was years of hard work, blood sweat and tears that turned him into the musical tour de force he is today. An insatiable imagination and a natural tendency to question tradition often put him at ends with his peers growing up. As such social alienation and ridicule became a part of his life from a very early age. In these early years Leon found that creative writing and poetry were a powerful way for him to escape the cruelty of the other kids in school and in his neighborhood, But It wasn't until his teenage years where Leon finally found a medium to which he could speak his mind freely to the world and actually be heard, Music. After receiving an electric bass and acoustic guitar for his birthday one year he began exploring his new craft, experimenting with multiple different genre's ranging from Post-hardcore to pop, Absorbing influence from everyone from Michael Jackson to Linkin' Park. Finally in The summer of 2008 Leon would find a his musical home in one of the most malleable genre's of music to date, Hip-Hop. Years of creative writing and poetry had set him up to be a master word smith. With a Natural talent for free-styling and hook writing. Taking major lyrical influence from masters of the craft, Lupe Fiasco, and Eminem. As well as being heavily inspired by the content of artist like Kanye west and eventually Kid Cudi, Leon slowly but surely began to piece together his own original sound. After releasing his first single "Skyline Dreamin'" and exhaustively touring the local Massachusetts circuit He quickly garnered the respect of many in his city and other surrounding towns under the pseudonym Kid Ikarus which he would eventually change to Leon Legacy due a disagreement in ownership with another artist online. On the eve of his first independent release however Leon found himself hospitalized after several months of slowly loosing touch with reality. He was diagnosed as Bipolar/ Schizophrenic, and from there he would begin a long arduous uphill battle toward recovering his sanity. eventually Leon fell deeper and deeper into depression looking to substances like alchohal, molly, and adderall to name a few of his vices and developed some powerful addictions. Things slowly began to spiral out of control until late november 2012 when he attempted to take his own life by over dosing on prescription anti-psychotics. Little did he know that Overdosing on Psyche medication can have terrible ramifications for those lucky enough to live. He spent the next day or so slipping in and out of consciousness in strange dream like state. It was in this dream like state where Leon had a revelation that he had a higher purpose in life and somewhere between the throws of life and death he found the strength to stand up again. After his release from the psyche Ward Leon worked intensely for the next several months putting together his most successful project to date, a project which earned him a spot performing for an indie apparel company by the name of "Lets Rage Clothing" for several dates on the Vans Warped Tour in the summer of 2013, a project called Polarity. Through Polarity, Leon told the world his story, the story of a kid who had been repeatedly knocked down by life but somehow always found the strength to get back up. Although this project had the potential to serve as his breakthrough Leon was dissatisfied knowing in his heart that he could do better. Being a musician himself he always felt like his music was somehow cheapened by rapping over beats that had been produced by others and so after his stint on the warped tour, Leon went home and immediately immersed himself in the studio to begin production on his latest project, the as yet to be released "Godspeed! Bold Young Aviator". Although Leon hasn't divulged too much information on the project he promises his supporters that this will, by far be his most ambitious and creative work to date. With lyrics drawing heavy influence from art, philosophy, and his own life experiences and music featuring live instrumentation performed by Legacy himself as well as ambient atmospheric production featuring powerful cinematic soundscapes this Album promises to be unlike anything the world has ever heard, vying for a release for next spring if all goes according to plan. After years of struggling with his own daemons Leon Legacy is finally ready to take on the world, but the one true question still remains, Is the world ready for Leon Legacy? ...Only time will tell.
