You have to
salvage it from the incinerator.
here we go
Its called "YOU LOVE US, but thats because you're fucking idiots".
and inside it has a picture of something.
couple of hundred quids
i think...
as in
DIDN'T see. oops.
i did see
the "obvious" sarcasm but regardless on that matter I see both sides of the 4AD/Kranky argument and agree with your choice.
thats the spirit!
what a self-righteous twit
wellllllll
odds of there being THAT many Kranky versions being around if the "usual" UK stockist (Southern/SRD) don't have it, then it may be tougher...
just curious
why?
with fucking
OXBOW
Noice.
christ
this is fucking awful. they may as well have just called themselves horseshit and been done with it. i couldn't hear any glorious noise... where is the glory in this? i think i'm getting old.
and
just to be clear, i'm on about general consumers and the nature of consumerism and not people that have clear morals on the "free music" issue. i personally think that its great that people paid for Saul's record and Radiohead's for that matter.
In both cases, personally, I would at least liked a chance to stream a track or 2 (or all?) to know what i was getting if I was gonna pay for it? You can listen to a CD in a record shop before you pay for it to decide if you want to part with your cash.
Which is why i reckon the 9 tracks free, rest you pay for idea is better. obviously you have to try and test these things before they become apparent, i understand that (though did think it at the time).
no no, i agree
it was just the way it was like "hey have it for free if you like - assuming you don't want to support the artist". bit of a guilt trip. but at the same time it was very cool to have done it like that.
but honestly? why would most pay for that? if you can get a 192kbs file for free, which is a damn good quality, then why would you jump for more afterward? you needed to download the 192 if you were not a fan or if you hadn't heard Saul before, so after that why go back and get a bigger version of the same thing? thats all i mean...
Its like someone offering you an upgrade option on your 14 inch cube TV to a 40 inch a normal plasma for free or go for a plasma HD for a cost. what would you do? i'm sure i'd replace my 20 inch cube with a free no-HD plasma! and i think a lot of other people would too.
anyway, just my take. still think its exciting that these people are taking this jump. I actually even think 5 bucks is a bit low from a business point of view, especially when you consider that iTunes makes shit loads of sales off a 192kbs album at 9.99 USD.
fair play
that boxset looks sweeeet. and the whole set 9 songs free, the rest you pay for thing is a better idea than the guilt trip that was the niggy tardust initiative. why the fuck would someone pay for 320 when 192 is more than enough... and free.
how can anyone
like a label that dropped Red House Painters on their two best albums?
this.is.awesome
this is one of the best videos i've seen in ages.
cannot wait for the ica shows.
As I said
I have no idea what you guys are on about anyway. But I'm sat with Mystic Meg and she reckons the name Mark (Parker? Marc?) was associated with said house also... spooky shit!
*gets offa your boards*
HAHAHAHA
Do you mean the laptop it was so pleased about from PC World, or the laptop that popped out of a PC's womb? I'm sure I have no idea in either respect.

what the hell
are you two on about? next thing you'll be saying is there was a 12 foot monster living in squalor hidden downstairs at the back of the place, with his own private bathroom...
Cos Alan McGee sez so!
On a related note, I saw in the NME a write up about Carl Barat and him wanting to "do a Radiohead" by McGee not letting him... I seriously don't know why I care about this, but I wanna know why its "the new business model!!!" for one, and a bad idea for another... apart from the fact he has no idea what he's on about and what day of the week it is.
amazingly spot on
Did the press release claim it sounded like Magazine, or did Kev decide that? Soup Dragons though. Yes.
Von Südenfed
Please!
wow
my equation... it must have been all wrong! MATHS ARE NEVER WRONG!
*implodes*
i can only assume then
that DiS have been told a fake release date in order to secure coverage (ie maybe they were full for news/features/reviews for today or last week, or even a fortnight ago) and the record is already available via whomever distributes whomever is releasing it. it worked, see!
quite how track listings is news in anyones land is another matter...
and those that have heard it - is it any good?
he was in
Broken Social Scene, non?
illness
that being not being able to handle his booze and drugs because he is a wuss-blanket.
and writes dreadfully dull songs too.
don't reckon they will
the two bands will probably do their own 2 sets and be done with it... get to the box office! wonder how many amps will be onstage for that one?
both
their and your list and pretty much any other suggestion that has come up is a pretty good indication that we are in the nadir of UK music.
If the best they can come up with is The View and all can think of is Electrelane, things are surely going very, very wrong somewhere.
can i sense
a wee horn toot here?
no but
it's SO DIFFERENT!!!!

I deny
That "505" is incredible. Please edit the review.
Hmm
I would - and it is... in a sense. Would you?
here here
i listened to the whole thing online today, on the brookynvegan site. it's good - much better for not having the vocals, in my opinion (each to their own).
seriously - i do not hate EVERYTHING. i like this!!
mogis
anyone else noticed that this sounds exactly the same as a ton of other saddle creek stuff? particularly Son Ambulance.
jesus
these guys really do have a one-dimensional approach to punk-rock composing!
musicians
have the right to make money, so I'd say its more up to them to make the choice as to whether they sell one of their own compositions to an ad. obviously they'd need to take into consideration people seeing it as "wrong" - but if they can live with it, then cool. composing music for whatever purpose will need to yield some sort of revenue. whether it's for the ultimate good of the artist or not remains in the public's hands... of all the ads on at the mo with "indie" syncs, only 1 in 10, if that, will have any sort of decent chart impact, I'd wager...
that would be pretty cool
can't see it happening for some reason, though....
but seriously, he has the money and the contacts to do this all himself (or by someone else with his full guidance) should he choose. basically he's not got the impetus and he's having a wee moan. the record company guy's line is a bit crap though, but that IS how a lot of large-indies and most majors think.
because
it's easier to moan than to do something about it. it's quite the artist's trait.
Happy now?
I wonder if he feels a lot happier with his situation in Europe now considering the new record has essentially tanked across the entire continent?
just to warn you all...
this is way more like more adventurous and way less like execution. it's really, really over produced, super polished, very much the sound of a band who don't actually care about anything much other than being famous.
isnt this
the 17th single off this bloody album??
why is Starbucks so much worse than EMI exactly?
just wondering.
sounded like
you fell asleep to me! i almost did. seriously.
i got this album already..
it pretty much sounds like every other shellac record - ie. not bad, not great, pretty one dimensional. don't wet your pants about it yet.

These found me
T'other day: www.myspace.com/stringsofconsciouness - first band I have ever bothered to add and also put in my favourites! On the MySpace they have tracks with vocals from My Brighest Diamond, Foetus and that dude with the killer voice from Enablers. They seem like nice people too, so can't moan...
