Fair play to Jay Kay

The paparazzi are scum and need to be taken down a peg or two. Next time don't slap him, give him a full knuckle sandwich.

That's a shame about The Sunshine Underground.

Raise The Alarm is fantastico. It deserved so much better than 66.

I love Phoenix.

And this song is pop at it's finest. They have such an irresistibly easygoing charm, a charm that puts a great big smile on your face and never make you think ill thoughts for the rest of the day. If Phoenix weren't "nice" they wouldn't be the Phoenix I know and love.

Well and truly gutted

This is the third band that I rate 10/10 to have split up this year and I'm getting incredibly vexed! They were a fantastic, electrifying live band and both albums are superb. Left was unfairly criticised for dropping their post-rock sound, yet the only songs on The Lost Riots that could be labelled as post-rock were Black Dollar Bills, The Black Amnesias and Me Ves Y Sufres. TLR was chock full of pop songs like Nehemiah, George Washington, Sadness On My Back, Goodhorsehymns, Enemies/Friends and more, yet no one was complaining then. It's bizarre! Anyway I will miss them dearly and will commence to play the triumphant, call to arms brilliance of Nehemiah at top volume as of this very moment...HEAR US SINGING WE SING, YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH!!!!!!!!

sniff

Where is Little Rhymes?

Awww tis a shame. Thats one of my fav's.

8 out of 10?!?!?!

Damn straight!

First impressions of the album were not good

2 more listens later and it has revealed itself to be a bit of a gem. I'm glad I gave it more time.

Will have to buy this

Despite the fact that Hotel was awful beyond words and 18 was only half good I feel it is my duty to. Everything Is Wrong and Play are masterpieces, I Like To Score is a commendable compilation and Play: The B-Sides rises far above the secondary state of quality it's title suggests. The self titled album is pretty nifty also. In other words he isn't completely irredeemable yet.

Still I don't understand why Slipping Away and Lift Me Up are on the best-of when there are so many better tracks to choose from. For instance God Moving Over The Face Of The Waters, Find My Baby or Hymn. A questionable tracklisting.

Shite band! Shite song!

It's all budda baby.

A brave and extravagant effort

After listening to it constantly since it was released I have come to the conclusion that it is one of the best of the year. A 9/10 from me, an album of huge range where not one song sounds the same. Brit-pop, jazz, metal and psychedelic rock, it is all here.

Hilarious!!

Never has scathing humour been so FUNNY! The word "cunt" just has me in stitches everytime!! Seriously, was there no one else available to review this festival for DiS?

I've already downloaded the album...

...and it's quality. It took a lot of convincing but i've finally given in to the charms of these posh bucks.

This song is like...

Burning Benches by Morning Runner. Except a lot worse with none of BB's heart-wrench or the eruption of gritty melody which ends the song. Chasing Cars just plods along in the most predictable and boring way possible.

And my post was aimed at winding you up

Due to your overly heated and serious rant. Looks like I succeeded fabulously.

It's a damn good song

But yeah, I guess it's not single material. Perhaps 'I Hate That I Got What I Wanted' or 'Finally Free' would have been better choices.

I hope Isobel Campbell doesn't win

Seeing as how Mark Lanegan is American, it's hardly fair.

I like Meltdown

Never was sure why it was so derided. Straight up guitar pop done well.

Fuck!

LIKEABLE!!

Well I liked him

He and the bass player were the only likable members of the band. Slighty likable.

Everytime she is mentioned to me in some way or another...

...all I can think about is a fat naked corpse sprawled over a bed. Hence the reason why I don't like her much.

Ooooooooooh

Mr Reviewer was given a right talking to there. I'm inclined to agree with the son of Satan, this track is the tits and Amber was a slight re-invention for the band, hardly harking back to the good ol days of Lido. But yeah, this track is great, maybe one of the highlights. Not as good as Dreamt That You Died though.

Hooray Muse! Hooray Editors!

BOO Arctic Monkeys! I'm pissed that Hope Of The States were not entered, tis a shame. The Monkeys will win it anyway and we'll have to hear that twat and his fingers down a blackboard voice for more months to come.

I am there

I'm just there

That new single...

...is a stonking tune. It has inspired me to check out the album. "I fought the war, I fought the war but the war won't stop for the love of God".

I'm glad I downloaded it

Would have been a waste of a tenner otherwise.

I prefer Sheila's Wheels

Car insurance has never been so shaggable.

Apart from the three singles...

...Annie and Sao, this album bores the tits off of me. The greatest disappointment of the year. So many times they could have soared to the heavens but instead they choose to focus on a sparse minimal sound with the vocals taking up all the room. When Guillemots are celebratory thats when the record is at its best but unfortunately there is a whole lot of weeping and wallowing going on.

So what will be the next single then?

Has to be This Scene Is Dead or Lousy Reputation. Thank God they're not re-releasing The Great Escape anyway, MTV2 DID NOT STOP PLAYING IT!

"You did good Hasselhoff"

"You did good."

BOOT TO THE HEAD!

I don't know what that is from but I've heard it somewhere.

BOOT TO THE HEAD!

haha

That made me larf a fair bit.

Does she sing about anything else?

Other than cocks?

So the album is getting rave reviews and a heap of praise.

Meh. It's Muse. I expected nothing less. Not as awe-inspiring as Absolution but still a 10/10 from me nevertheless.

That review has a good point

There is something forcibly eccentric about Guillemots that always made me slightly uneasy. However it doesn't get in the way of a masterpiece like this song.

The video is terrific.

Pure escapism. The bit where he puts his hand over the camera and it cuts to the band on the beach just fits with the song so well.

Easily one of the best singles of the year so far.

It's just a shame that the album is so damn bland! And thats coming from a Keane fan!! What a dissapointment. The three singles and Sao Paolo are the only songs with any excitement stored inside them. The rest is one long battle to keep the eyelids from lowering.

I wasn't too fond of their two albums...

...but it's never nice to see a band split and I felt they still probably had a lot more to offer.

God it feels great...

...to have Muse back. It's been a while.

That was well worth writing

And just in time too!

I've got that recording

What the hell is Ben mumbling at the end? He sounds like he's talking in his sleep or something.

Wow...

Got to admit I think this song is a stunner. What a comeback. It's like a combination of Panzer Attack and Promises, Promises, two of their best songs. Bring on the album, oh yes bring it on!

The Vines...

are a crock of shit. And this review is even worse. Although I guess the whole point is that The Vines don't need/deserve any sort of indepth analysis into their music to warrant a decent review.

One word for you edwards...

TOLD!!!!!

JCB Song for Christmas Number 1

The only contender for number 1 that has genuine warmth and...yep, good ol fashioned christmas spirit in it. Mike Diver it needs to be said... you are a proper mook.

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Howl

God bless you Ross. Couldn't have put it better myself. An outstanding album.

Re: Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Ain't No Easy Way

Nah they got it from the film The Wild Ones.

Re: Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Ain't No Easy Way

Terrific song. Not many songs can make me sing their chorus after just one listen but this did it's that catchy. I've got the album and it is also terrific, best thing they've done in my opinion. So fair play to Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, I wish them luck with Howl and hope it is more successful than Take Them On, On Your Own.

Cutt Off... slacks and a rather fetching blouse

Wow thats really interesting news there. Very compelling.

The Magic Numbers - Love Me Like You

Jordan is spot on. Worry About The Wind is a classic. But I'm not sure about re-releasing it since I'm generally against re-releases. Futuremore I'm not sure Jordan agrees but HAL are many many times better than The Magic Numbers. TMN are still okay though!

Keane to get mean

Oooooh I'll be looking forward to this next album. Keane are totally tits.
