Expect
a review on dis three months after the albums released by a guy who's hip-hop relationship barely extends past Atmosphere and Aesop Rock.
the artwork
is some of the best ive ever seen. If Modern Guilt has an image then thats not a bad shot at it.
Quite like the album one listen in, and kudos for making a 30min album.
DEF JUX
If there is an indie/rock equivalent its Dischord.
Both examples to be followed
Bit dissapointed by this article:
Not exactly inspired, and no especially interesting choices. Can't stand Foals, think Atlas Sounds debut is good but massively overrated. Do You Like Rock Music has two or three very good tracks but the rest is average. Why? and No Age are ace, but where are Neon Neon, The Slip, Vampire Weekend, Hercules & Love Affair, Real Emotional Trash, The Notwist, Dodos, Dig Lazrus Dig?
Age Of The Understatement
This is surely Turner's Raconteurs to the Monkey's White Stripes day job - right down to the Morriconne strings. The only interesting and worthwhile aspect of Arctic Monkeys was the regionality of the lyrics and singing - let's face it, Clint Eastwood never made a film in Sheffield. This is as bad as Lostprophets' appropriation of distinctly American sound stylings.
Thurston Moore
Likes EVERYTHING
Seriously, check out the Minutemen dvd, hes sat in what has to be his and Kim's record room, and there are thousands of records behind him, and neither Neil Young nor Madonna has made that many albums have they?
Dude's not picky.
This reads a bit like...
all those newspaper articles about emo, but from the NME of the internet. Say what you want about Pitchfork - they satiate my musical needs, and leave my newspaper to inform me on the state of the nation. A woman was tragically and brutally murdered. This has NOTHING to do with you being called gay at school. Being bullied for lets face it, dressing in a way that will embarrass you a couple of years from now anyway is pathetic compared to that murder. Whining about it detracts from, not adds to the horror of it. Violence is disgusting, and reprehensible when aimed at people for what they wear, but this article reeks of sensationalism and seems an excuse for most people to take the moral high ground. That someone has already mentioned Martin Luther King is an absolute joke.
Reviews...
Are not DiS' strong point. Interviews; ace, but every single one of the reviewers on this site need perspective and a greater understanding of how the 1-10 system works. Daydream Nation reissue - 9/10. Foals album - 9/10. As good as DN then? Here's an idea 9 or 10/10 save for truly classic albums, and you can apply 8/10 with characteristic abandon to whatever else you like that week.
Also, whats with the length of that review? Just catch the band on Skins and amongst all the money shots you got a hard on and couldnt stop writing? Heres three succinct reviews of Antidotes:
1. Bloc Party meets Minus The Bear
2. A Weekend At The City without the choruses. What score would such an album deserve? DiS doesnt hand out anything less than 5 does it?
3.Ignore all the Battles comparisons in other reviews - Foals love syncopation but are completely rythmically uninteresting. And their lead singer looks like Syclar from Heroes.
One way to add some credibility to reviews here would be to curb Diver. Possibly the best writer on here, but he needs to put his dick back in his pants a bit more. If everything is 8/10, does he enjoy anything especially?

Saying Nas "has never been one to play the game" is bullshit.
Im not even going to explain. If you know what Im talking about then youre already more qualified to review this album than Will Dean.
Illmatic is quality, no doubt, but the above post is right, half an hour of decent music 14 years ago and nothing but shit after.
