Re: Carling drinkers: your music taste is as poor as your taste in beer...
I wouldn't pay £100 or whatever it costs to see U2.
The Stone Roses reformed maybe, but definitely not U2

Re: Oasis - Don't Believe The Truth
Cool phase?
Nah, ever since Standing On The Shoulders With Giants they've been under massive massive scrutiny and that hasn't changed, it's just that newer, more diversely-influenced bands have come on the scene and done well.
Basically Oasis shouldn't have been so greedy to start with and stuck to a 2-3 album deal.
Otherwise their legendary status might still shine like the first two albums do.

Re: Oasis - Don't Believe The Truth
the album doesn't really deserve anything - if that was a band coming through from being unsigned and they released that, the band would be unsigned once more.
simple.
simple.
Re: Oasis - Don't Believe The Truth
Punk - just The Clash and The Jam really.
Hip hop - not wanky commercial crap, stuff like The Roots, Pharcyde, Justin Warfield Tribe Called Quest, British stuff like Jehst too.
I was just generalisin anyway

Oasis - Don't Believe The Truth
Firstly. Oasis was the band that made me think 'i can do this' when i was like, 13,14 and that to me is very important. they're kinda why i started a band.
I loved them for so long, so unswervingly. so every album i since What's The Story i've been just hoping.
Through the end of the nineties I started listenin to more random stuff than just indie (Dub, Old Skool/Alternative Hip Hop, punk, soul, classic rock) and it kinda dawned on me that oasis aren't really as good as i once believed and so ever since before Heathen Chemistry I have been very sceptic as to what was to arise. That album was pretty mediocre to say the least.
I've heard the album and there's one track i remember.
ONE.
That's pretty fuckin crap really.
They lit the flame but unfortunately their candle is outta wax.

Yeah, there's Smother (excellent), Engerica, The Gourami, Absent Kid and wet flannels The Brights but there IS MORE decent bands that the organisers have overlooked that are from Essex and i think it's a bit shit they haven't showcased more...
