I don't think I've listened enough yet (can't properly remember song titles etc.)
But I agree that the songs creep out slowly, I wasn't sure the first time round. I found the same effect with Comes To Your House but they seem to have found a way to be even more abrasive this time! They sound like the band Pissed Jeans /wish/ they were.
Great, GREAT band
Reviewer, I think it's Lawrence that's singing most of the songs on this record, Craig seems to have pretty much handed over his vocal duties.
It's interesting that TODD and Shit & Shine have been converging musically ever since that VVitch EP (that weirded me out). One of the best shows I ever saw/heard in my life was a TODD show, yet they played $&$'s High Brooms for about 35 minutes and nothing else. If you listen to Purity Pledge nowadays it sounds like a different era entirely, but some of the songs from Big Ripper would fit quite happily onto a recent $&$ record. Confusing bastards.
BLAAAAAAAAACK GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLD
Ha! I knew Black Lips were obnoxious little tossers
but never expected proof like this.
They are the best two
'Minutes in Night' is a classic too.
Really? After a few weeks of listening I think it's great but slightly lesser to the last album.
Can't believe The Bronx II got 5/10 on here. Mike Diver must have been deaf that week.
Agree with the score
Don't agree that they haven't progressed though. 'Past Lives' and 'Young Bloods' are poppier than anything previous. More solos/duelling guitar stuff here too.
12. Armand Van Helden - “Flowerz”
Siiiiiiiiiiick.
...
"would you pay to be able to use Muxtape or a service much like it?"
No, for shit's sake. I can make a compilation and upload it to yousendit, then email the link to my friends. This site just made it one step easier by allowing the songs to be played from the website. They changed that process for the better and I'm fucking sick of progress being hindered by people who can't understand why anyone would do something for free.
Is that what she said?
Hahaha
Obama
has Springsteen, Gaye and Simone — CLEAR winner.
Of course the actually Halloween night is better
Just annoying that it's not really a one-off party anymore. As I said, the artists will be more tired and less excited.
Don't you hate it
when the extra date is before the original one? And you're like "hey fuckers, I paid for the original date, so why am I getting the sloppy-assed second date, when the bands are tired and less excited?"
Never been
Not even sure if it's open yet. Run by Fabric.
Rough Trade and the Millenium Dome.
Great. Top party atmosphere venues there.
I love Lindstrøm although some of the earlier stuff on that singles comp was duff. This new one sounds intriguing.
They must like the taste of Carling
A fine drink indeed
FAO Band
Pls change your artwork / website so that they don't look like a Warcraft player's CGI wank fodder. You used to have decent artwork but it's gone to the dogs.
They just name stuff after
things from whatever musical equipment is in front of them at the time, don't they?
"Stagg Keyboard Stand"
London show
was tremendous. Audience was the largest group of friendly weirdos I've seen.

The Chavs
Most embarrassing band name ever.
Maybe it's in your blood then.
Write something boneshakingly heavy?
Yeah, agreed.
Wasn't questioning their inclusion in the article. I just think Pissed Jeans are trying a bit hard to be *super extreme*. Bands like Harvey Milk and TODD sound like it's in their blood.
(only two of them)
pre-ordered this a few days ago, wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
10/10 for me
Album of the year so far.
Pissed Jeans are the SUCCKK compared to this.
NEED
I hope I love it as much as their last.
Their website

A Place To Bury Strangers
are ear-piercingly loud but a bit boring live. And they look like super wangs in that photo.
I'm also looking at how I can "embrace everything".
Everything that is currently happening in the news, I want to do too. Maybe I will run for mayor and base my policies around how I would like to lock my daughter in the basement whilst I settle my divorce with Paul McCartney.
Hahaha.
That's what you get for having an 18-year-old child at 75, you randy old sort. It'd have been easier to handle at 50.
good article this.
however, re: photo
can people stop wearing their hoods half-on, half-off please? i guess they want to look all dangerous and YOOF but without any of the consequences of asbos and the like. hey girls, look at me with my hood up - it's not al the way up though, because i want you to see my face.

nice apostrophes
i love being correct

WOW MASSIVE NEWS
THE BUILD-UP TO THIS WAS EXCRUCIATING BUT NOW I CAN FINALLY SLEEP
Cool
Vision Swim is pretty pummelling, given that I'd read it was 'ambient'. Looking forward to these.
our time
OUR
Because
overenthusiastic ramblings from excitable journalists on here are going to result in, at worst, you or I spending £8 and regretting it. The tabloids and their respective political agendas are far more harmful and in my opinion, far more cynical. There's a big difference between 'bad journalism' as in journalism you don't like/disagree with and 'bad journalism' as in purposefully harmful, rabble rousing nonsense.
Besides, since when has anyone on DiS (or Pitchfork or Stylus for that matter) ever interviewed someone with the intent to sneakily damage their career? Furthermore, music sites such as this aren't thrust into the hands of bored commuters every day, people actually access this site through choice. So it's hardly blanket indoctrination, is it? I know the NME isn't free but this is a point about the media in general, I think.
Now let's go and do something more constructive with out time, rather than sniffing out hypocrisy and scoffing at it. Or scoffing at people who sniff it out. I don't know why I even posted at all.
What if everyone
read the reviews but still formed their own opinion afterwards, like anyone with any semblance of intelligence would do?
The statement you take issue with only looks hypocritical when you remove it from its context. Gareth also blames the media and the government, within lines of your most hated part.
What are you talking about?
Really? Sounds like you have insecurity issues.
This article says obvious things but in a well drafted and thought provoking way. And it's likely that the only reason the NME altered the Morrissey piece is because they know the readers will slurp the faux controversy up like swill.

Totally jarring. Down with this sort of thing.
