////Bierbaum, Otto Julius (1865-1910)
German poet and novelist. Co-founder of the art journal Pan (1894) and with A.Heymal and Schroder of the literary journal Die Insel, from which the Insel-Verlag was to develop. His most important publications include his edition of Deutsche Chansons (1900) his collection of lyric verse Irrgarten der Liebe (1901), and the grotesque novel Prinz Kuckuck (3 vols., 1906-7). He is remembered chiefly for showing the potentials of cabaret-type (uberbrettl) songs and verses to express a variety of humor and sentiment- an important influence on Brecht and the political poets of the 1920's.////
