Sometimes the best things in life are the simple ones. Of course, it's usually the case of the best things are actually the devillishly brilliant ones.
Be The Coral however, and you can be both. 'In The Morning_' is a magnificently simple, devillishly brilliant, cheeky pop tune in the mould of an entire four generations of North West pop magic. It appears to be a homage to how good things are in the morning. It's two and a half minutes and it's so, so simple. Yet devillishly brilliant. One of the best things in life.
And if anybody dares to suggest that the chiming guitars are far too similar to a famous Toploader cover, then we'll bash you up, la.

i have to admit. I keep seeing this on MTV2, and i can't help but tap my foot!
The Coral - In The Morning
This and the new Oasis single restore my faith in 60s-influenced modern rock'n'roll. Too much post-punk stuff about for my liking just lately.

I really didn't like this the first time I heard it but it's grown on me loads. They do nice little simple ditties like this so so well. I'm really looking forward to the new album now.
The Coral - In The Morning
This irritates me! Almost to the same degree as that wires song by athlete.
The Coral - In The Morning

Reverse indie-snobbery alert!
How can something be 'too catchy'?

"Too catchy"? Not sure that's a criticism I've ever come across before...
Still, The Coral. I have to say, I wish they'd cease with this kind of stuff because they're not desperately good at it. For me at least, they're THE wasted talent band of the last few years. The first album was textbook flawed greatness - unfortunately they've largely ignored the "greatness" part since then (the insane, poly-stylistic pop of "Goodbye" or "Skeleton Key"). It just irritates me to hear a bunch of obviously capable creative talents like these spending themselves on such middling material. Meh...
