It just sounds like a poorer, radio-friendly poppier version of 'Dalston', what with the crazy build up and the tiny breakdown etc.
I know i should have expected it, but when nme rates this as single of the week over the Arcade Fire you must wonder what they see in this band.

I thought it sounded like a pish version of 'Rat Trap'.

Is this the song that Borrell said was a bit like George Harrison? He said something about new material sounding like that. I remember reading that somewhere, possibly here..

Surely the point was that it sounds like they've *ahem* borrowed from the Pumpkins? that's not defaming them, nor is the statement that the SPs used to write top radio hits. Like it or not, they did...

The first time I heard it I thought it was okay, but my opinion of it has gone down every time I heard it since. Processing your acoustic guitars to death maketh not a good song.

Its pretty laughable all round really. :P

I like Razorlight but this is by far their worst moment so far. It all sounds pleasant enough if you don't listen too closely but the lyrics are absolutely horrendous. The bit that makes me cringe most is the 'and you just walked on by'. They should've went for Keep the Right Profile for this single, it's a million times better.

Razorlight are awsome, i don't care what anyone thinks because i love to listen to 'em and Jonny Borrell is the coolest guy ever to have walked this earth! Somewhere else is fantastic!

I like Johnny and the lads; they seem to have real passion in what they do, even when the lyrics are as simple as the alphabet! Although the No.2 that Somewhere Else achieved, I think Golden Touch would have deserved it better...

I have to say (well I don't, but I will!) that I am another who likes Razorlight. They seem inoffensive to me especially compared to the horrors produced by Oasis over the years.
They aren't pushing many envelopes anywhere but this is infinitely preferable on the radio to Busted and Rooster.

Although I like Razorlight to say that Somewhere Else is twice as good as anything Bloc Party have put out is risable. BP are truly exciting and certainly are trying to push sounds into new and exciting areas - good on them.

I note that Somewhere Else has been compared to the Boomtown Rats on this thread - am I the only one who think Golden Touch is a direct lift of the Cure's 10.15 Saturday Night riff?
