Because of the high-pitched feedback at the opening of ‘Barbarico’, the press release for the new Snow White single says “apologies for the first two seconds if you have the volume on high”. On hearing the single, part of me feels it should read “apologies for sticking shitloads of distortion and power-chords on what is in essence two minutes of ’Shambles-lite clatter and trying to pass it off as some sort of teenage revolution”. Or perhaps “apologies if you feel dirty for actually liking this”. ‘Cos while Snow White hardly sound like they’re gonna change the face of a crack-obsessed Lahnden rock’n’fuggenroll scene, they do have the youthful two-fingered indie-noise thing sorted, and ‘Barbarico’ has the magnetic post-punk characteristic of sounding like it could collapse at any moment before…well, it actually does. It also has the good sense to sod the fuck off before it outstays its welcome – same could be said about the live version of ‘Trust Fund Punks’ featured here. ‘The Death Of Lynda Lee’ is an altogether different beast, however, what with it being like a shouty wall of AYWKUBTTOD-esque guitar work that speeds up just as you think it’s getting too dark and moody to be explosive enough. Remember to remove all sharp objects first.

Snow White - Barbarico

Really liked their last single - has this one got proper distribution, or is it just hip'n'cool indie shops again?

Snow White - Barbarico

Proper nationwide distribution this time and CD's as well.

Re: Snow White - Barbarico

Can even get it at Amazon, but you have to wade through all the Disney soundtrack albums to find it...

Snow White - Barbarico

hahahaha

youll never guess

i was on the train yesterday - circle line or whatever going to liv.st for a mates 21'st but thats besides the point

there were no seats and i was trying to revise
so i had to sit next to the indie schmindie kids
oh gosh - what twats
they kept harping on about their new record (i was 'ignoring' the esteemed discussinos about - oh who chose the green... oh that was me... sorry guys but no one replied to the email...)

they had just gone to rough trade or whatever
and was flashing it all about...
(at which point i have my proverbial head in my hands...)
what a bunch of tossers i thought
yeah i knew soon enough id know who they were...
"ahh we shoulda got an import only sticker on it... then it would have looked real exclusive..."

bah.

(youre all going to cull me right? cos you all like them? ah. i wont deny ive heard only good things about them... yet still... but then i guess thats how any converse adorned (post)teen would act upon having an all band excursion to purchase their first record...)

Snow White - Barbarico

Hey I'm in SW and I thought I should point out you're a knob.

So we're not supposed to be excited by our single.

We're not supposed to wonder that a sticker might be a different shade to the one we submitted (not that we really cared, we were just wondering)

And we're not allowed to make jokes (the bit about the import sticker).

Hmm lets see if we can pointlessly pick on you from your profile.

"starting bands and leaving them before they get successful and start regularly playing the barfly etc"

Sour grapes! Maybe it's just they got good when the Pram fan with head up his arse and no sense of humour buggered off.

True an assumption, probably a long way from the truth, but then if you go around calling people wankers after overhearing conversations in trains then you gotta expect it.

Re: Snow White - Barbarico

y'alright Neshy.

Re: Snow White - Barbarico

For someone who wasn't that interested (and putting the words "or whatever" after every few words doesn't show a lack of interest - quite the opposite) you really had your ears... pricked, wouldn't you say?

You seem to remember a lot of dialogue. Is that jealousy in your tones? Your moaning and droning of 'converse adorned (post)teen(s)' lead me to believe that in your youth, you were one of the outsiders, longing to be part of the crowd, but they didn't like you, did they, neshy? And mommy and daddy had no time for you, but you found solace in yourself, after endless nights of crying into pillows and hoping that one day, just one day, you'd be accepted.

No, of course not. The above paragraph is all bollocks assumptions, and most of which I know are wrong, but you feel it correct to make just as unfounded assumptions in your posts.

You're right. We should cull you, but not because you slag off a band, no no no, any degenerate can do that.... it's because your attempts at insults are actually insults to the English language. Get yourself a hint of originality (trying to use a shoe brand as some sort of negative adjective really is the lowest of the low).

Tata,

-L MD.

Also, I wouldn't reccommend revising on the train. Noise during intense concentration affects the area of the ear known as the vestibulocochlear nerve which eventually causes stress and imbalance problems. The early signs of vestibucochlear disorder stem from regular and intense migraines, so do watch out there.
