burningpilot are from the latest stable that brought you Subways, Mystery Jets and Ladyfuzz, and though they may all have truckloads of indie cool, there's none quite so cool as these lot.

No names for members, merely a list of channels (eg Ch # 1 - drums, Ch # 4 - keyboards) and an intrinsically mysterious sound, burningpilot's 'It's The Music (they're dancing to)' sounds like a mad spooked bastard band attempting to integrate ska into their post punk whilst being at the same time allergic to those happy happy up guitar scrapes that those terrible yank punk bands use. As threatening as a night out in Coventry in 1979 basically, and then this wending, beautiful Stranglers keyboard sneaks in and we're sold.

Not quite as sold, however, as we are on the manic ski-sunday keyboards from side 2's 'Can't Kid A Kidder', which holds together an equally good song - think Hot Hot Heat pumped full of Melotonin and dumped on a British Rail station in Rhyl.

If this is the sort of thing the kids were dancing to in the eighties, how come everyone seemed so unhappy?

An esssential single purchase.

not meaning to get at you or anything, but calling a transgressive 7" an essential purchase two days after it comes out is a bit pointless, considering that they generally sell out on preorders/first day in shops.
may be wrong though.

Hmm.. global recession, Thatcher as Prime Minister, high unemployment, dodgy economics, Ronald Reagan ascending to the highest seat of American politics, the beginning of mainstream awareness that we were fucking the planet up environmentally, the constant threat of nuclear war, the Falklands, Limahl, all those godawful American teen films...

Thank god Ectasty and dance music came along really.

Re: burningpilot - It's The Music (they're dancing to)

well their dublin castle gig the other week was dead, so i doubt this will be selling as quickly as the others (no matter how good it is. which it is).

all those godawful American teen films...

WATCH YOUR MOUTH.

Re: burningpilot - It's The Music (they're dancing to) / Can't Kid A Kidder

YEAH!
Teen Wolf is obviously brilliant.
And I won't hear a bad word about Back to the Future.
Wait...
...do I fancy Michael J Fox or what?

A teenage John Cusack....

Say Anything dude...

Re: burningpilot - It's The Music (they're dancing to) / Can't Kid A Kidder

I watched Teenwolf on Ch5 the other week. It's like a metaphor for MY WHOLE LIFE. Especially the bit with the climatic basketball game at the end, and the following lines of dialogue:

Bad Guy: hey, freak, how much more punishment are you gonna take?
Michael J Fox: how much can you give out?

Yeah... like.. YEAH.
YEAH!

I bet you're all Pretty in Pink fans and people who think Sean Penn was inspired in Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Now wonder the Killers are popular in the UK.

Re: burningpilot - It's The Music (they're dancing to) / Can't Kid A Kidder

Nah, predictable but I prefer The Breakfast Club.

Right now, I'm trying to seek out a Corey Haim / Corey Feldman movie called License To Drive. It looks so bad, it MUST be good.

lol... worst film at the minute is a TV movie called DREAM Team, a sort of cheap Charlie's Angels knock-off. Traci Lords and Roger Moore in the same film? Oh yes! Ian McShane as well!

Re: burningpilot - It's The Music (they're dancing to)

I've just bought it off Rough Trade. Definitely an *essential* purchase!

Re: burningpilot - It's The Music (they're dancing to) / Can't Kid A Kidder

Re: burningpilot - It's The Music (they're dancing
