Ah yes, we remember you.. hello Beck.
The diminutive musical chameleon that was allegedly the 90's answer to Prince (though not at all really) returns to the fore with something that reminds us of a time when we actually really liked the man, rather than when we merely thought we should.
‘E-Pro' twins grinding post-grunge guitars and clattering drums with disinterested "na, na na naaaa" sing song vocals and sounds like ‘Devil's Haircut' as covered by ‘13_' era Blur. It sounds distinctly honest, which for the genre-hopping West Coaster, is quite a feat. And it's all the better for it.
A big returning beam rather than a wan smile then, for Beck. Hurrah!

this is a great single.. seemingly a return to form after the disappointing slow album.. and a preview for ya. i downloaded the album from an argentinian torrent site.. and its ace, I shall buy it. who says file sharing doesnt work!!

i thought most of midnite was pretty fucking ace, but mostr of sea change was oasis.
ok, not oasis, but, lost cause aside, not very fun.
and this song just songs like devils haircut but less interesting. just doesn't go anywhere.

I've got to say, I think E-Pro is the worst song on Guero and usually makes me skip straight to track two when listening to the album. Don't get me wrong, I love Beck's music (aside from Sea Change, which I 'liked'), but it's such a boring song by Beck's standards in my opinion! Hell Yes!

Sea Change was pure class. Round The Bend is superb. It's such a huge contrast to anything you'd normally associate Beck with from his Odelay/Midnight Vultures style. A bit of class.

Downloaded the whole thing a couple weeks ago...and for this Canuck, it was a return to the Odelayan, vulturistic, mellowy goldy kinda kick - a considerable jump in both sound and style from the previously personal, sluggish Sea Change. As one previous writer mentioned..."Hell Yes", both tune and video, are examples of just what a freaky genius this dude really is. He has yet to lend himself to any one style of music long enough to be pigeonholed as a rock, alternative, folk, country, rap, punk or techno artist. But he IS a sound sculpter extraordinaire, as a listen to both "Black Tambourine" and "Scarecrow" will attest. Overall, when you throw in the bluesier, mellower sounds of "Emergency Exit", or the haunting "Rental Girl" the result is a fresh, new, but experienced Beck back at the helm of his own personal cacaphonous ochestra. Good Job!

If this is the track i'm thinking of and the one that's been compared to sounding like Kasabian then it's pretty good.
I saw Beck in 1997 when the fantastic Brainiac supported him.
