I have an immense dislike for Brody Dalle because whilst she looks the part, she's completely unable to write material that befits her newfound status as the queen (okay, princess maybe) of all things R'n'R. Indeed, how she attained such a status has me scratching my head more furiously than I would if my scalp was infested with lice. 'Beat Your Heart Out' is no better than your kid sister's attempts to cover Hole songs on an old Casio keyboard and that battered acoustic guitar that your dad's had hidden in the loft since he was eight. Some guitars are bashed and Dalle growls a bit... and nothing else. Actually, your kid sister's better - at least she has an enthusastic charm to make up for her musical shortcomings and some fire in her belly. The Distillers suck; go listen to Kat Bjelland or Ms Love instead.

The Distillers - Beat Your Heart Out

THANK YOU

The Distillers - Beat Your Heart Out

she sings eaxctly like Courtney Love. EXACTLY!! it's a joke.

Re: The Distillers - Beat Your Heart Out

Celebrity Skin = one of the best rock records EVER.
Coral Fang = a half-decent attempt at ripping off Live Through This.

I reckon.
But you're right about Ms Love's new stuff... bores the bejesus outta me.

Re: The Distillers - Beat Your Heart Out

Please tell me you were joking about Celebrity Skin. It's pitiful, truly pitiful... 'Malibu' is like a small child drowning in the local swimming pool of shit that is every other song on the CD.

Re: The Distillers - Beat Your Heart Out

It's like Fleetwood Mac!
I.E. GREAT.

Re: The Distillers - Beat Your Heart Out

Amen. 'Awful' is probably the best pop song of the '90s, 'Celebrity Skin' is probably the best rock song. Fin.

Re: The Distillers - Beat Your Heart Out

I played Celebrity Skin a couple of weeks ago,and was quite underwhelmed by it.It didn't sound anywhere near as good as I remembered.Pretty on the inside and Live through this are better albums, but, that's only my opinion.
Re Fleetwood Mac.Listened to Rumours on cd tonight for the first time.Still a good album.
