Everything about My Red Cell’s ‘Knock Me Down’ EP wants to be punk rock, right from the lurid sleeve to the breathless, urgent pace of their music.

For sure, My Red Cell have got the attitude, sounding seriously pissed off with the girl on the title track. Maybe they’re upset because they come from Barry and are led by a man called Russell?

Good though it undoubtedly is, it's more 'The White Crocketts Matchbox Disaster' than any nu-Welsh rock revolution. No bad thing but ‘Knock Me Down’ doesn’t quite carry a knock out punch. Well worth sparring with for a few rounds though.

They sound like The White Stripes if they'd employed a bassist.

I think this song deserves a higher mark. I would have given it 4/5 personally.

My Red Cell - Knock Me Down

I saw them in there home town of Barry in a small club called the Savoy back last year, they were ace. Glad to see them doing well, they deserve it. Great guys, great album, fucking great band.
