Biffy Clyro are still one of those bands who refuse to be labelled. They're not emo, they're not metal, they're not post-hardcore, and they're damn fiddly to write about. However, their latest offering, thankfully, is much easier to describe - gorgeous, pop-filled indie rock.
'Questions And Answers' is just one reason why we need Biffy Clyro. They don't follow the verse/chorus/verse/chorus/bridge/chorus school of songwriting. They charm with their use of the most quirky melodies. They make your hips shake with the loveliness of their three-way harmonies. They've left behind their occasional metal and post-rock tendencies for now, and the result sounds something like Far on Prozac; in fact, it makes you wonder why other bands can't write good songs as naturally as this lot.
It's intelligent rock at its best, and it's exactly what Top 40 rock music should sound like. It's going to be making sweet, harmonious love with your radio very soon.

Alternative Review - Questions And Answers
There’s absolutely nothing here that hasn’t been done better a thousand times before, so what’s the point of it? There isn’t. It’s miserable indie shite, is what it is. It’s all very well name-dropping bands like Fugazi and Nirvana, but like Seafood, loving decent bands doesn’t make you any good.
Singer Simon Neil’s emotionless, Scootish drool is achingly flat and so devoid of any interest, poetic or sonic, you just wonder why they bother. ’Yoove got ool these greet answers to ool these greet questions…’, he keeps moaning as the same, monotous off-key guitars get louder. Yeah, and…?
Neil says on the press release, ’our only real ambition is to be our own favourite band’. Well that’s just as well really isn’t it?

Re: Alternative Review - Questions And Answers
and this is why u like JET??!?
Re: Alternative Review - Questions And Answers
What?
What the hell have Jet got to do with anything?
Jet are good enough, at least they have vaguely interesting songs.
Come to think of it, there's a lot of bands I've seen and interviewed that piss all over Biffy CLitoris from a great height. Including, but not exclusively; TCTC, Boxer Rebellion, Muse, rJD2, Blur, Colour Of Fire, Dandy Warhols, Avril Lavigne, Kylie, My Computer, The Darkness, etc
Biffy are pretty much the worst band on this site, save for maybe InMe, but at least they have sex appeal.
Anyway off to Homelands today, no more shitfibgering indie music for me....

I don't have a go at any band's because they are popular or successful.
When or more rightly, IF Biffy Clyro ever become successful or liked by more than a pub full of sweat little teeny indie folk, I'll still have a go at them for being fuckin' shite sub-Idlewild sucking wanksters and wouldn't know ambition or a good tune if it came all over the face of one of the pathetic little scumbags that constantly suck their cock.
I'm flattered by how obsessed you are you though, babe.

Re: Alternative Review - Andy Future
Yeah, so what if I have dreams about rubbing Mr Price's crazy hair over myself? Is that illegal? What next, are we gonna ban virgins from visiting DiS? Huh?
Are you gonna burn all homosexuals? Kill all hippies?
I'll make my fetishes public but not now. It's neither the time nor place. What exactly has any of that got to do with me slagging off a record anyway?
It's a music site for opinions backed up with thoughts and evidence, not pathetic name calling by those with groundless personal grudges, or am I missing something?

Re: Alternative Review - Questions And Answers
Surely what Simon Neil says seem to show they're not in it for anyone else but the fact they love music. They're producing tracks influenced more by what they feel than what they'll get out of it. They don't need to scream all the way through or swear constantly. Just produce music which means something to them, and hopefully, with luck, someone else. Even if it is "sweat(I'm sure you meant to put a Y in there) little teeny indie folk.
I personally am a fan, although I admit, to me Questions and Answers is certainly not their best. I'm not trying to thrust my opinion on you in any arrogant fashion, and as you say "Don't be so anal about what music you listen to".
Oh- and you never know how much emotion goes into songs until you've seen them live.
& another thing, your review writing could be better, you seem to state things as fact, when really what you should be expressing is YOUR opinion, "you just wonder why they bother" I've seen and met them countless times, I'd say I pretty much know why they bother.
Cheers,
Lauren.

Re: Alternative Review - Questions And Answers
Still Biffy are an unessential band. Top guys but not doing anything to turn your head.
Do you come from Reading per chance?
Re: Biffy Clyro - Questions And Answers
Re: Alternative Review - Questions And Answers
Biffy are totally essential to me. They've got something to compliment every mood I have, its pretty hard for bands to find that variety in what they play, which is probably why I don't listen to S Club and all the poppy stuff manufactured for people who still aren't aware of what tallent is.
& no, if you were referring to me, I'm not from Reading.
Re: Alternative Review - Questions And Answers
Be thankful you don't come from there; I've heard some nasty things about that place.
Re: Alternative Review - Questions And Answers
But I guess your mood depends on what kind of person you are.
Anyhow - beautiful weather means I should be outside.
