Goldfrapp = Moloko. Discuss.
This is purely a hedonistic and scary talent. As a statement of intent, this is as far away from 'Utopia'_ as you can get.
A driving rhythm (like a train, unsurprisingly) underpins a fine and sultry vocal performance that is half Roisin Murphy and half Kylie. A phone ring sample purrs sporadically through the track to confuse and derange listeners (I spent half of the first listen looking around for my phone.)
This is a slab of prime "strange pop", and in the tradition of great singles, the b-side is a beautiful, ambient soundtracky return to the sound we have learnt to love from the band.
I can't wait for the album...
