Stefanie Fix is a singer songwriter from NYC area with friends in bands including Mercury Rev and Cakelike, who contribute to this deep and intriguing four track cd. Most definitely a long term project the acoustic basics of each track are built on layer by layer with synths, strings, percussion and even what sounds like a speak n' spell machine on track 2, 'Cynical Eyes'. There is nothing lo-fi about this cd, this is professionalism without the associated sterility. Opener, 'So Much Trouble' is a stomping journey of choppping guitars, rolling bass and unstoppable attitude. The three other tracks take a step back to more reflective stance, yet still retaining emotional potency.
Suggesting influences ranging from The Flaming Lips to Spiritualised, combined with Stefanie's powerful PJ Harvey-esque vocals, the resulting attention to musical detail makes Limited Sight Distance pretty unique. Lie on your bed, turn out the lights, put on your headphones and listen to something truly precious.
