However, whereas Nirvana and Franz kicked seven shades out of their imitators with split singles, The Cribs can claim a scrappy score-draw with the Kaiser Chiefs on this 7-inch love-in cover session. The aptly titled A-side ‘Mirror Kissers’ mimics the Chiefs by shagging the arse out of their stop-starts, timely ‘woah!’ yelps and a tune so catchy even brain-dead skinheads on the terraces can sing along. In other words it’s a crowd-pleasing piece of brilliant pop.
The cover of ‘The Modern Way’ is an embarrassing thrashing however, and the scenesters really should stick to their own game in gaining promotion to the big league. In analysis then, it’s definitely back of the net stuff gaffer, although it’s a single of two halves, at end of the day… (sniiip!)

If you mean the split with the Fire Engines, i think you'll find that the Fire Engines predated Franz Ferdinand by a good 20-odd years.
The time i saw Cribs they had two kinds of song - good ones that were a bit like Pavement, and awful ones that were a bit like the Libertines.

The albums a cracker, the live disc is ace too. They're my fave band at the moment, their pop is so infectious!
