For someone routinely masturbated upon from a great height by style magazines with their fingers (literally) on the pulse, James Murphy is a pleasingly cynical fucker.

However, before morphing into the Victor Meldrew of dance, here the infiltrator appears to be shaking the moneymaker, rather than simply rolling his eyes at piggybank obsessed superstar DJs. Basically, kids, it’s not as good as ‘Daft Punk Is Playing…’ – which in turn wasn’t a touch on ‘Losing My Edge’ - but then as this new single attests: “Bear in mind, we all fall behind, from time to time.”

No one should care though because although LCD isn’t quite the resurrecting Jesus figure wanted by those on disco-biscuit diets, this is still light years ahead of the competition. (And yes, that even includes post-modern masterpieces such as the genius of Crazy Frog) The bass crunches are backed up by playfully looping keys seemingly lifted from Father Dougal’s BBC Sound Effects Volume Four LP (see track 7: ‘Shite UFO Noises’)

On this evidence, the Murphy, he’s not bitter.

I don't get LCD soundsystem really. His Mark E Smith impersonation just irritates me.

I mean, they're ok for what they do, but they aren't funky enough to be a funky-disco band, and aren't vitriolic enough to be a disco Fall cover band...

Better than the fucking Rapture though.

    Ah, LCD Soundsystem.

Great production and... well... a few good songs :)

This isn't one of them, though. "Tribulations" is liek totally the best track on the album.

      yes, yes it is.

      And both versions of 'yeah'.

I like this track a lot too.

the lp was a big disappointment really, it needed the bonus disc to save it.

I'm only really into this, On Repeat, Movement and Great Release. The rest seems too far away from all the early stuff for my liking and his vocals on the lp proper are far more irritating than they were before.

More importantly, did anyone else spot Carlos D in the video for this?
