My God, there’s so much to hate about Muse; the pompous frippery, the vocal nobbery, the in-built desire to fuck people off; the hair; the complete virtuosity of musicianship which is so completely unnecessary. So why, WHY do I find myself listening to ‘Time Is Running Out’ again and again, torturing myself like a vegan staring at a McChicken Sandwich?

Is it because of the song’s residing humanity that is so often lacking in Matt Bellamy’s material? Not really, though it is there. Is it because of the impressively obese cyber-rock production? Not particularly, though it does sound like WW3 taking place in the midst of the biggest rock concert of all time. Is it because of the shuddering bass, massive major chord progression or hell for leather drums? No. I like it because it is quite simply a TUNE.

Till the next time Bellamy. You may have won the Single Of The Week battle, but the war is… etc etc. Quite.

i heard it on the radio and thought it sounded quite good.

but

terrible shame it's made up entirely of bits of their other songs though

and that behind the fantastic voice and music, he's still singing a load of non-specific half-arsed shit a bedroom-confined 16 year old could have written.

hmmm, the point of my post, if you read the actual words, was that yes, the music is excellent, but he writes lyrics like a 16 year old. i could show you a million black-clad 16 year olds who write lyrics like him. if not better.

and i'm fucking neve campell right now. coincidence eh?

Thoughts of a dying atheist

No 'bedroom confined' 16 year old would have written the lyrics to this song. They're much deeper than 'time is running out' and I feel they really hit some fundamental fears. Not tennage angst at all.

Although 'Time is running out' is an amazing tune. You really can't help liking, or at least enjoying listening to it.

actually, before you slag people's music taste off you should have had a look at the profiles for peoples taste before you slag it. at least then you could have came up with something a lot more original, funny,acurate and hurtful than the insult you used. will theese people ever learn good humour skills?

ahh. well at the end of the day you mayaswell be listening to nu metal. so any nu metal bands i garuntee you will like. but then agen if u just buy one album by muse u don't need to waste your money on anything else cus u can just listen to it over and over again and rename the songs as you wish. just like muse do with each of there releases.

well ok how about radiohead, but there really is no point as muse have copied all their songs anyway. and my favourite bands at the moment are the stone roses, the mars volta, interpol, british sea power, blur and kings of leon.

ok, muse rule anyone who saw them on their latest tour could them you that, also to say that all muse songs are the same is utter bollocks. if you were to listen to their new album you couldn't honestly say the heavy riffs of stockholm syndrome sound exactly like the slow strings of ruled by secrecy and since when did nu-metal bands have violins, cellos and such like on their tracks?
