The Datsuns have long hair and their new single sounds like Deep Purple fronted by Robert Plant.

The Datsuns are out to rip you off, or at least their new home of V2 Records is, giving you a whole TWO TRACKS for the price of a normal CD single. To make matters worse, one of those tracks is over two years old (your humble hack has had it on MP3 for the last nine months).

It’s kinda sad that the better of the two tracks is the older one, ‘Supergyration!’. It’s a proper rock’n’roll stomper alright, with dumb lyrics and shoutalong chorus. Just a shame that their big entrance is the rather crappy sludge of ‘In Love’.

You won’t be listening to them in 10 years time but if it’s what floats your bubble just now then wait ‘till their self titled album is out, or trawl round the net/eBay for a few of those old 7”s.

The Datsuns - In Love

the smell of elitism in the air!

Re: The Datsuns - In Love

Wow a reply i agree with your post about a rip off. But come on all there old songs are better? Maybe but the I was there before you atitude is irritating! Sorry if you think thats what music os about but with the current highjacking off this "garage scene" by fashionistas the last thing we need is squabbling between true fans about who got there first to certain bands, no?

Re: The Datsuns - In Love

er, i didn't say "all their old songs are better", just that the second track was better than the first, and it seems a shame that it's an old song cos i'd rather hear new stuff. hmm?

Re: The Datsuns - In Love

yes but what about the "new" fans who want to hear old quality material before they experience the godlike "new" album that comes out a week later?

Re: The Datsuns - In Love

how about they give the 'new' fans some 'new' material then reissue the 'old' stuff as a 'new' album in the UK, and why don't they stick more than 2 tracks on the cd? only 2 trax suggests they don't have more 'new' songs to offer.

but nobody will care about them in a year's time, so i guess it doesn't matter.

Re: The Datsuns - In Love

look i think we both agree that it suxks but its happened before it will hapeen again! Obviously no one will care in a years time apart from the "new" fans when their second album comes out who say "you should of heard thier first album"

Re: The Datsuns - In Love

I thought they rocked very nicely on Jools Holland on TV last night. They've got a proper rock n roll image - love the hair n style boys! how refreshing - rock music has lost that mystique it once had and these boys are re-capturing it in style. The singer wields his lovely gibbo thunderbird bass like an M60! They play basic hard rock and reminded me of the stooges a bit (I wouldn't say the stooges were particularly imaginative but it's all in the delivery - they're legends). In an age where most rock bands are either post pubescent bubble gum wannabe punks, boring indie crooners or over-hyped gothic rockers I found their traditional greasy, loud and crunchy sound but with their own approach making me think - yes rock n roll still kicks the pop idols poncy pert asses and has much more sexual energy *RESPECT BOYS* I wish them all the success their efforts deserve - it can't be easy playing in a trad rock n roll style 30odd years down the line. I play in a casual band and even that requires alot of work and commitment. OK primal scream do it far better and are far, more diverse. Does that mean these guys should stop OF COURSE NOT. You can't go to a primals gig and get thrusting rock music all night. These guys are helping to keep rock music attached to its roots and doing it with no small amount of energy and force so give them a break. I say well done boys for making it up against overpromoted boring coke obsessed mirror-w**k tossers like Oasis. Hope to see you on tour sometime boys... peace :)
