While it’s admirable for a contemporary R&B singer to ditch the booty shaking to preach the virtues of not straight out rump-pumping with whatever pretty boy takes one’s fancy of an evening, Estelle’s ‘Wait A Minute (Just A Touch)’ still sounds breathlessly sexy to the extent where the chill, take it slow message is lost beneath claims that our protagonist will take her boy on “a ride like a rollercoaster”. Hardly subtle, that.

However, lines like “wrap it up ‘cause I ain’t carrying your embryo” and “I heat it up like a toaster” are brilliantly bonkers, and the slick production from The Black Eyed Peas’ wil.i.am and bouncing beats combine to produce a deceptively catchy single that serves as a decent preview for Estelle’s forthcoming Shine LP, out in February.
