The Enemy Had Enough

The Enemy: Had Enough

Is anyone else already bored by The Enemy? Their Jam-inspired tunes are full of pomp and show, rising to memorable, singalong choruses, and they look like they could take care of themselves in a pub scuffle. That’s all fine, all well and good, but it’s difficult to buy into. Everything is too neat and too polished - are they really street urchins, or are they made to look like street urchins? There isn’t enough bitterness in a song like ‘Had Enough’ to reassure you that it isn’t all a farce, because as much as Tom Clarke pouts into the microphone like Weller, the Warners production squeezes all the vitality out, and we’re left with a nicely parcelled radio hit. You can almost hear the click track keeping it all in time.

‘Had Enough’ is nothing more than solid, which is a shame because if you sped it up, and Tom was encouraged to spit out his aggression more violently, The Enemy would be able to rise above the lumpen-headed Hard-Fi and Kasabian mould. A harmless two-and-a-half minutes, then, but that’s the problem.

....

The dont look like tey could handle themselves in a pub scuffle.

isn't the singer about

2ft tall?

doesn't everyone use click tracks these days?

nuh?

think I might have missed the point?

American Rock/British Accents

Unfortunately, our "rock" music sucks complete ass is not something to be emulated.

I'm not sure what street urchins look like these days. If you were looking for another way to say "sissies" then ok. Maybe they know kung fu or something.

didn't realise

there was a stigma about click tracks :o
I feel like a commercial whore.

On another note, this band is arse and the singer's eyes are too wide apart.

When this song plays all i hear is....

BILLY LAD BILLY LAD BILLY BILLY BILLY LAD.

The click track comment

was clearly a bit too oblique! Apologies. There's nothing wrong with a click track per se, but the slow-and-steady nature of this song makes it feel like everyone's concentrating too hard on the click track, rather than injecting energy.

i don't like this song or band...

...but you've given higher ratings for songs significantly worse than this.

.

This song is pretty ‘meh’ and un-offensive but I still probably wouldn’t feel the need to run for the radio dial if it started blaring out.
The young scamps do have a gift for writing catchy / stick in you head chorus’s

I can’t imagine it would get much love amongst the DIS indie elite but for your every day Stella drinking geeeeza down the boozer who may not be such a huge music fan it would do just fine.

TEENAGERS remix

the remix is ace. that said not a fan of the band. they are very bland.
