Another one bites the dust: Holiday Plan dropped

What is it with rock bands getting dropped this year? Hackney new kids on the block The Holiday Plan have been chucked by Island.

The band recently took part in MTV's 'Breaking Point' programme, in which four bands competed for the chance to release a single. The official word is...

"The Holiday Plan have parted ways with Island despite their debut single 'Stories/Sunshine' sitting at #58 in this week's charts. The band have an album largely recorded, a Summer of activity including Reading/Leeds Festival and a very loyal fanbase, in all truth the end of their relationship with Island may be a blessing in disguise. The Holiday Plan need a home that is willing to cater for development. That home is not Island Records. Under no circumstances would The Holiday Plan have entered into Breaking Point if the truth had been revealed from the start that it was a pop oriented competition. The Holiday Plan were told the opposite (it was a documentary about Rock bands with no competition element) and the breakdown of their relationship with Island began at the point the lies started and is the consequence. They are currently in the studio completing their debut album"

Another One Bites The Dust...

Forgive me for being the first to state the glaringly obvious, but they really weren't much good, were they? When I saw them with My Awesome Compilation I was praying for a hole to open up and swallow me... truly awful. The worst gig I've ever been to.

But, I guess some kids like these guys, and they're hardly the worst of their ilk out there, so as long as I don't have to ever hear them again, good luck to 'em.

Another One Bites The Dust...

Firstly, i don't know whether this band are any good or not. But i have to say they sort of had it coming by signing to a major label who can't afford to sit and see a band progressive cos they need instant sales. recently it has been a shame to see Kinesis dropped from their label when clearly all they have to potential to carry on improving

Another One Bites The Dust...

I kind of feel bad for them. But Tokyo Dragons, Portobello and The Holiday Plan all hit The Top 75 on Sunday- which isn't too bad.

Another One Bites The Dust...

The Holiday Plan are shit and the video is even worse

Another One Bites The Dust...

'stories' single is cracking and 58 isnt at all bad for a first single, the label are fucking fools and yeah its a shame that labels cant develop anymore. im sure The Holiday Plan will be back very soon with a new label, they're one for the future.

Another One Bites The Dust...

what happened to that californian bunch, foolproof? i saw adverts for their single somewhere (and the video - not too shabby), which would mean that they were releasing 4 singles. although since THP were already recording their album for island i don't suppose they really count.

Another One Bites The Dust...

think they were dropped and sent back to california. hear Island are signing Portabella...fuck me...are they deaf? gotta be one of the worst singles of all time. One thing NME were right about. the whole MTV program sucked shit, The Holiday Plan seemed genuine and were very funny, the rest sucked almost as bad as the program itself. But the sad thing is Island have totally fucked over bands careers by doing this show. I'm sure The Holiday Plan will be back as they seem to be doin good, but what a load of shit.

Another One Bites The Dust...

speaking of the charts..... what happened to them this week, adie?

Another One Bites The Dust...

Weren't these on a development deal with island though?? So its not like a proper signing has been dropped here. PLus thats all bollocks about the temptation roster being dropped, theyve been MOVED to island.

Another One Bites The Dust...

fairly shit... saw them supporting biffy and they where tryly outclassed... nowhere near biffys league

it wasnt a competition
but they were forced to release a track they werent so happy with as their a-side.
this is because THEY WERE ON A MAJOR LABEL.
fucking do some research, foolish band.

as to foolproof, i saw them on denmark street complaining about hte price of guitars. i sniggered in their direction.

Re: Another One Bites The Dust...

Was working... probably going to be working most Mondays from now on as well.

Re: Another One Bites The Dust...

Not even a plug from Mcfly could save Foolproof's career.

Re: Another One Bites The Dust...

that shouldn't have been in the story at all.
*chops it out*

right fuck this, i'm going to BED.

Another one bites the dust: Holiday Plan dropped

Breaking point was like fucking popstars. I thought the show WAS a competition, with the winning band releasing a single through whatever pimp of a label it was that supported the show. Well all the bands released a single and they were all shit. Especially The Holiday Plan. What was the point?

Another one bites the dust: Holiday Plan dropped

they sound rubbish.

Another one bites the dust: Holiday Plan dropped

there is justice. the holiday plan were the best of a bad bunch, that portabella song is genuinly the worst song i've ever heard and foolproof are generic rubbish. the holiday plan just weren't good enough.

Another one bites the dust: Holiday Plan dropped

Mainstream-cocksucking emo-by-numbers. Have been filed where they belong, under "shite"

Another one bites the dust: Holiday Plan dropped

I like the Holiday Plan.

That is all.

Another one bites the dust: Holiday Plan dropped

They ARE rubbish, aren't they?

I can't believe they were told that Breaking Point thing was just a normal rock documentary though. I bet they were mildly annoyed when they found out the truth...

Another one bites the dust: Holiday Plan dropped

Sorry, I know I'm just reiterating what other people have said but they were pretty crap. However, Portobella/o(?)'s single was probably the worst song I have heard since Fatman Scoop's hit last year. That bad.

Another one bites the dust: Holiday Plan dropped

don't think it's a "were" as I hear there's a new deal on the horizon already. agree about that Portabella single, fucking horrendous. The Holiday Plan were the only 1/2 decent thing on the show.

Re: Another One Bites The Dust...

ah well, cant say im not pleased that they have freed up a space for a decent band to have a stab at it

Another one bites the dust: Holiday Plan dropped

i like them. they may not change your life but they are a good band and genuine guys.
i remember talking to matt when they had just signed the development deal and you could tell that he didnt really like the idea, but they took the chance that they were given, it just so happened that the label weren't honest about things... anyway, maybe this'll mean that they sign to an indie like they wanted.

Re: Another One Bites The Dust...

its a bad single. the band are fools, they souldnt of signed to a major so early. anyway hope they wont be back.....definatly not for the future.

Re: Another One Bites The Dust...

ive seen them when i went to see billy talent and i didnt really like them i actually watched that breaking point show and one thing that really pissed me off was one of the record blokes who was saying that he liked portabella because of the woman singer, and it was all about her, anybody who sings about being 'coverd in punk' is asking for some backlash. its just another example of a major label ripping off bands because they dont reach the top 10

Re: Another One Bites The Dust...

> just another example of a major label ripping off bands

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Another one bites the dust: Holiday Plan dropped

Wait a second... So much shit about The Holiday Plan, but people are missing the most important part of the article!

"Rumour has it they've dropped dEUS too..."

What rumour? What basis? What reason!? That lone sentence is not particularly useful, we need more information!

Another one bites the dust: Holiday Plan dropped

guys, why do you have to be so mean? seriously, it's not like they have committed nickelback-style music-crimes!
i agree, thp definitely are no radiohead, but you can tell from their shows that they love what they do and they really are awesome and fun people. anyway, i hope that they'll find a new label (independent, if possible) soon.

the holiday plan

there better live!!!!!!!!
