Another one bites the dust: Holiday Plan dropped

What is it with rock bands getting dropped this year? Hackney new kids on the block The Holiday Plan have been chucked by Island.
The band recently took part in MTV's 'Breaking Point' programme, in which four bands competed for the chance to release a single. The official word is...
"The Holiday Plan have parted ways with Island despite their debut single 'Stories/Sunshine' sitting at #58 in this week's charts. The band have an album largely recorded, a Summer of activity including Reading/Leeds Festival and a very loyal fanbase, in all truth the end of their relationship with Island may be a blessing in disguise. The Holiday Plan need a home that is willing to cater for development. That home is not Island Records. Under no circumstances would The Holiday Plan have entered into Breaking Point if the truth had been revealed from the start that it was a pop oriented competition. The Holiday Plan were told the opposite (it was a documentary about Rock bands with no competition element) and the breakdown of their relationship with Island began at the point the lies started and is the consequence. They are currently in the studio completing their debut album"
Rumour has it they've dropped dEUS too...

Another One Bites The Dust...
But, I guess some kids like these guys, and they're hardly the worst of their ilk out there, so as long as I don't have to ever hear them again, good luck to 'em.

I can't believe they were told that Breaking Point thing was just a normal rock documentary though. I bet they were mildly annoyed when they found out the truth...

i remember talking to matt when they had just signed the development deal and you could tell that he didnt really like the idea, but they took the chance that they were given, it just so happened that the label weren't honest about things... anyway, maybe this'll mean that they sign to an indie like they wanted.

"Rumour has it they've dropped dEUS too..."
What rumour? What basis? What reason!? That lone sentence is not particularly useful, we need more information!

i agree, thp definitely are no radiohead, but you can tell from their shows that they love what they do and they really are awesome and fun people. anyway, i hope that they'll find a new label (independent, if possible) soon.
