The Return of Campag Velocet

Why? No really, why? I normally only post about bands I like rather than ones I dislike, but in this instance... why?

The Return of Campag Velocet

I never realised they'd gone away.
Just thought they'd changed their name to Kasabian and grown lots of facial hair...

Re: Jetplane Landing

harsh!

The Return of Campag Velocet

ha ha, you two are funny... now fuck off.
..and for the record, the website has been updated, its just that you've got the old labels site on your profile, try this one... http://www.campagvelocet.com

Re: Jetplane Landing...eh?

Wow, can Kasabian do the whole Oasis-covering-Flowered-Up thang too?!?

Shame, they're one of the few new bands with some decent fucking opinions and can give a good interview, spose it was too good to be true.

Re: The Return of Campag Velocet

the return of Campag Velocet. jesus wept.

Re: The Return of Campag Velocet

Im sorry Damian but I've just looked at your profile mate, Keane? The Wildhearts? WEEZER??? LOL!

Re: The Return of Campag Velocet

Weezer piss on Campag Velocet from a great height.

Re: The Return of Campag Velocet

I bought their album without having read or heard anything. I just saw loads of other people buying it and had a spare tenner... WHAT THE FUCK WAS I THINKING?

Re: The Return of Campag Velocet

the best comment made on the DiS boards. eva.

Re: The Return of Campag Velocet

Are you sure you were thinking? It sounds like you were hypnotised.

The Return of Campag Velocet

Am I the only person who liked them, then?

Re: The Return of Campag Velocet

I think so. They made me cringe, especially the singer with his bizarre Damon's voice, Noel's eyebrow, ugly schoolgirl's hair combo going on.

The Return of Campag Velocet

Campag Velocet...no way...agree with the Kasabian comments though, well observed. It's Flowered Up all over again. Except in the case of Kasabian the music is more Northside. Awful band, not that I'm sticking up for Campag, they're equally sh*te.

The Return of Campag Velocet

Im only gonna say this once, CAMPAG DO NOT SOUND LIKE FLOWERED UP, anyone that thinks so either hasn't listened to their music OR are FUCKTARDS. Oh, and Weezer better than Campag? Dont make me laugh...

Re: The Return of Campag Velocet

Campag Velocet always looked (and no doubt smelt) as though they'd been pissed upon from a great height many a time anyway, probably while sleeping in a skip, so I doubt that makes much difference to them.

Then again Weezer have made roughly fuck-all of musical worth since their vaguely pointless comeback (save for lots of $$$$$ from kiddies still in single figures first time round, for Rivers to buy more grand pianos probably), so the opportunity's there for Tentpeg Velocet to steal a march on them there. Not that I'm exactly holding my breath.

What's the betting all the (solely London, hmm surprise, no-one further out would remotely care) gigs are 99% populated with the band's mates/the journos that bigged them up 5 years ago/those journos' mates/cunts & wankers (with terrible haircuts topped off with an "I am cool" aura)?

Re: The Return of Campag Velocet

hahaha! they did that day. I had the misfortune of being sent the album on its release and saw them a couple times too so I've sure heard them. It was just that 2nd time (at a festival) I ended up with that opinion, was 100% spot on that day. They weren't as bad as that initially, 'Drencrom..' was pretty good.. Flowered Up never made a tune as bad as "Sauntry Sly Chic" though.
CV will probably get some typically-NME revisionist reappraisal now they've reformed though especially as their 'look' is all the 'rage' now in a small corner of London...still, anything's better than Razorlight and that little cunt of a lead singer.

Re: The Return of Campag Velocet

Pablo... I would never pretend that I have (quote unquote) cool taste in music and I prefer to keep my trap shut about stuff I don't like, but I really don't understand Campag Velocet at all. I thought the only reason they got any attention in the first place was because the singer was an NME journalist...

Re: The Return of Campag Velocet

Yet again you've got it all wrong, Petes never been an NME journalist, I assume you're thinking about Paul Moody of the regular fries...

Re: The Return of Campag Velocet

You've got it all wrong about the gigs, they are nothing like what you describe.
I'd reserve judgement til you've heard the new album, it's a blinder and puts most other shit to shame.

Re: The Return of Campag Velocet

"their look is all the rage"... LOL, thats the stupidest thing I ever heard, where are you getting this info from? or are you just making it up?

The Return of Campag Velocet

@the campag haters

please dont buy this new album. pearls before swine :-]

Re: The Return of Campag Velocet

Yep... Paul Moody was an NME journalist, but there was some linkage between Campag Velocet and the NME... I'm going to have to try and work it out now because I'm buggered if I can remember. Might have been their manager, not sure, but anyway...

Re: Jetplane Landing

simon fierce panda was still writing for nme at the time of releasing campag stuff on the label.

that might be it.

or not.

Re: The Return of Campag Velocet

oh Steve, you are a one.

Re: The Return of Campag Velocet

you say that like it's a bad thing.

The Return of Campag Velocet

I saw Campag twice and thought they were top. The album was great. But.......haven't listened to it since and haven't really missed them I'm afraid.
Flowered Up on the other hand, my biggest regret in life is never seeing them live. The album didn't quite live up to the singles, but as for Weekender.... The memories of hearing The Chems play it at The Social are so vivid. The time of my life.

Update:Iraq upbeat despite latest attack on Campag

Re: The Return of Campag Velocet

When I've seen Kasabian live, I've always been left wishing it was actually the Coops in front of me.

Re: Update:Iraq upbeat despite latest attack on Campag

That's almost as cool as www.churchsigngenerator.com :-D

Re: Update:Iraq upbeat despite latest attack on Campag

baby, not nearly half as hilarious as your perception of the 'Mockney' mind.

The Return of Campag Velocet

Excellent. There's been rumours of them releasing new stuff for ages now. Personally, I can't wait. I think theyre a great band. Fair play, some people may think Pete Voss's voice is a little irritating. I did at first, but then I saw them live. Fucking amazing. BCBG is one of the best/most played albums I own. Rock on

The Return of Campag Velocet

That's made my day that has.

BCBG is an amazing album - it was the soundtrack to '99 for me...

The Return of Campag Velocet

The new campag velocet promises to be the album of 2004, as BCBG was the best album of 1999. Pablo, I presume you are the same pablo of Harshsharks? I think the current climate is ripe for the return of Campag Velocet, and by rights they should do really well, but knowing what the general populous are like, and not knowing how good Pointy Records are, the new album will probably go largely unnoticed

Re: The Return of Campag Velocet

What's the look for the summer down Old Street now then? I'll hold my hands up and admit I've not been in the london since last year... why do i even care this much?...
I'm sure they'll be considered much back in fashion and everything now, and old howls of derision from those not working in the music press who can remember 5 years back will be banished etc etc

Have you been corralling the Campag mailing list to this one wholly insignificant message board thread too? I somehow can't believe there's even this many semi-regular readers of this site who's greatest lp of the 90s/etc/etc was "BCBG"... (NB: neither was fucking Weezer though, mind you..)
(plus punkassbitch, i hadn't the intention, far too many good things [ie not ZZzzz balls like Biffy Clyro/etc] for my precious cash currently, all the more for you / second hand shops next year though)

is Corrie on yet?

Re: The Return of Campag Velocet

The last few times I've seen Campag live I could honestly say they haven't got a look as such (anymore), I swear. The only 'look' Campag have is not having a 'look' to speak of.
...and NO, I haven't corralling the mailing list to this site, ha ha, but I have to admit to knowing jayjay...
It's nice to see all these campag fans (sharks) coming out of the wood work actually... :-)

The Return of Campag Velocet

*GAH! RUN FOR THE HILLS*

Re: The Return of Campag Velocet

1999 was indeed a dark time for music if that was your "album of the year". quite possibly the worst band i have ever seen live - and i've seen razorlight - when the mighty Earl Brutus (probably as some mischievous practical joke) foisted them on us as their support act.

dreary as hell and not a tune for miles

The Return of Campag Velocet

Re: The Return of Campag Velocet

AND FUCK OFF WITH WEEZER !! WHAT A BUNCH OF FUCKIN STUDENTS, ARGH !!!!!!

The Return of Campag Velocet

nice to see that people are willing to tolerate that people have different opinions to themselves, without resorting to infantile insults and writing in capitals.

o no sorry, that was just my dream, some people actually are intolerant. oh well, THEY WILL PROBABLY NEVER GET LAID EVER AGAIN. (sorry for resorting to insults, it's all some people understand)

The Return of Campag Velocet

Saw them at The Water Rats last night. Awesome!

Re: The Return of Campag Velocet

I have a hangover.

Re: The Return of Campag Velocet

PS. I hear Pete Voss has read all the comments on this topic. Hello Pete ;-)

The Return of Campag Velocet

stop fucking wanking over pictures in your mums magazines and dreaming of losing your virginity(fucking weezer fans) and listening to a band band that can lay down a great tune. the new single shows we wont be disapointed. Voss is the man!

The Return of Campag Velocet

that should be 'and listen to a band that can lay down a great tune'. One too many stellas me thinks

The Return of Campag Velocet
