Full-time Monkey business for O'Malley after Arctic bassist quits

Stand-in Arctic Monkeys bassist Nick O'Malley seems likely to take up the position full-time following original member Andy Nicholson's decision to leave the band for good.

The three remaining Monkeys posted a statement on their website:

"We have been mates with Andy for a long time and have been through some amazing things together that no one can take away. We all wish Andy the very best."

The band play the Hurricane Festival in Germany on Friday. They've been without Nicholson since last month, when he took a break suffering from "fatigue following an intensive period of touring".

No specific reason has yet been given for his permanent departure.

Wow Im impressed

You did that without any gags whatsoever

yeh

are you feeling ok, mike?

Kinda saw it coming

Always thought it a bit odd he didn't go on tour because he was "fatigued". Aren't you always fatigued on tour?

Anyone...

...think he just might have been booted? 'Fatigue' is such a vague expression when people take time off from bands, and then a departure a coupla weeks later is quite a sign.

Anyway, no worries. Can the other three leave now too?

Boo

what a great opportunity he has thrown away...

yeah...

That's funny coming from an Audioslave fan.

Oh man...

...I cannot believe people still go to other people's profiles on here, and negate any point they make with OMGZ U LIKE DEM.

Grow up.

i can believe it....

fuck me, you like funeral for a friend and A!

Haha...

I know! I would go round the entire site and give a more rounded impression of my musical tastes, but its a bit long. I think they were both based on reading a news story about two years ago and being like 'Errrr...7!'

To prove how dated that is, check the Zack De La Rocha cropping up. The two year wait for a solo album continues...

why do i think

it's all going to go very tits up for the AM crew now?

Question :

have the Dodgems split then ?

.....

His brother on some Arctic forum said that 'he didn't fall off the bridge'.

Probably pushed then.

Shit. We all remember

what happend to Oasis when tony mccarroll left

Yes

I don't understand why people are suggesting this could be the beginning of the end for them. Their success has nothing to do with musical quality, and so it shall continue regardless of the standard of tracks they release.

...

Yeah but you like fucking 'prog'.

There's nowt progressive about that. When really it's just a bunch of effects pedals and more tonic-dominant major-minor chord arsewank. Don't try and act above it. It's all pop music, it's not Stravinsky.

Is It Cus He's Fat?

I thought they were tryna break the states

I really wish...

they would just fuck right off, don't ya know.

didn't

another annoying up-and-coming young boy band with silly haircuts give their bassist the push recently?

Omgz heavens aligning

that would have been panic at the disco

i can't remember where the ! goes

Wait

When did he totally quit the band? I thought he was just resting. Oh well, just shows you the ease in replacing a bass player.

Define "Fatigued"

Fatigued could mean "I'm tired of all their shit." I'm sure that band is an annoying bunch.

Conspiracy?

There's some kind of anti-Fat Bassist group emerging around the bands of today.

First Panic, now these?

Do we chubby boring people have no chance in life?

...

Let's go through the list, shall we?

"Tired and Emotional" - Heavily drunk
"I need to spend more time with my family" - sacked for not doing job well
"Suffering from fatigue" - ...from all the drugs and VD-ridden groupies.
