UK indie label Signature Tune has announced initial details of a forthcoming covers album, focusing on the work of ace-like-your-face Brit rockers Cable.
"Under-appreciated purveyors of fine tunes" is how the label describes the band still best remembered for contributing a song to a Sprite ad. Massive fans of the band, the brains behind the label are assembling a cast of performers. Already on board for the project are The Killerest Expression, Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly, Tom Vek and, rather interestingly, The League of International Super Best Friends. That's the 'supergroup' containing members of Bloc Party (Gordy) and yourcodenameis:milo (Justin).
More details when we get 'em.

Seriously
my favourite ever british band, the whole sprite ad thing was worth it just for the we did the music on the sprite ad blues bside, reform now!
OH. MY. GOD
I genuinely thought I was the only person to like Cable! Nobody I speak to has ever heard them.
I love When Animals Attack. Probably too much, in fact.
I actually never knew they did a Sprite ad, though.
I lent the second album to a friend about ten years ago. Haven't seen him since. Hmmmph. It wasn't as good as the first, anyway.
What are the Cable members doing now, anyway?
some good bands?
maybe?
oi you!
yeah....
anyhows theres 18 bands on it, and they're all great. we just didnt want to announce them all at once.
and they're all going past all of the band members for approval...if they decide it doesnt go on, it doesnt go on...and that's enough for me...
nod nod wink wink

I am now a friend of Cable.
That makes me feel warm inside.
fuck that!
I'm having a word with Darius later mater if there's band veto power. I'll see econoline BANISHED I tell you!
Looking forward
I cant wait to hear the album, Ive never heard any cable covers, id love to see the track listing to this.
Without doubt one one of the most under rated bands ever, and definately one of the best last decade. I was hooked after seeing them live and got When Animals Attack when it was released, it just blew the competition away.
I was gutted when they had to split, id still love if one day they got back in the studio.
So any idea on a release date for the new covers cd? I was pleasantly surprised to hear about this
Quite simply aces
I have been setting up a Cable site with loads of help from Pete, I have loads of pictures and never before heard demos so I’m taking this opportunity to ask the few Cable fans left for any pictures, rare/live music, stories and …well anything Cable related to be honest to get in touch with me as Cable deserve at least one site dedicated to them.
In fact
