Thom Yorke announces solo album

Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke has announced details of a solo album.

The singer sent a message to members of Radiohead's fan club, W.A.S.T.E.:

"This is just a note to say that something has been kicking around in the background that i have not told you about.
It's called The Eraser.
Nigel (Goodrich, Radiohead producer) produced and arranged it.
I wrote and played it.

The elements have been kicking round now for a few years and needed to be finished and I have been itching to do something like this for ages.
It was fun and quick to do. Inevitably it is more beats and electronics.
But it's songs.
Stanley (Donwood, aka Dan Rickwood) did the cover.
Yes it's a record!
No it's not a Radiohead record.

As you know the band are now touring and writing new stuff and getting to a good space so I want no crap about me being a traitor or whatever splitting up blah blah...

This was all done with their blessing. And I don't wanna hear that word solo. Doesn't sound right."

Well whoops. Anyway, The Eraser will be released in July (on the 11th we're informed) through XL (The Prodigy, The White Stripes).

Track listing runs as follows ('black swan' is to feature on the soundtrack to forthcoming Richard Linklater movie A Scanner Darkly, based on a novel by Philip K. Dick)...

1 'the eraser'
2 'analyse'
3 'the clock'
4 'black swan'
5 'skip divided'
6 'atoms for peace'
7 'and it rained all night'
8 'harrowdown hill'
9 'cymbal rush'

interesting...

Maybe, or maybe it'll be a bit dull,I dunno! I can never decide what I think about the stuff that has come out of these chaps in the last few years.....hmmmmmm

Thom, pronounced Tom

or 'boring, pretentious man' as I like to say.

Dn't know whther this will be good

I'll give it a listen

Eraser = Rubby Thommy

lol

Though

its the last thing he'd want to hear, I believe he is incapable of making a bad record.

Prove me wrong, kids

so

is he doing more solo stuff in the future, or is that undecided?

thom yorke = god

could this be any better. thom yorke is my lover. i want him. radiohead = gods. thom = most godly god

don't u dare...

and how could they...

not have mentioned that XL i also the home of Bassment Jaxx?

really hope this leads to a Dizzee Rascal duet.

;)

wow

this will be immense no doubt.

I just heard ' the eraser'

on the radio.
This is bland. The usual, well-crated, emotive vocals with reasonably interesting background music that sounds a bit 80's and bit Autechre but bit weak and definitely not unique (rhyme not intended!).

Kind of music one makes when nothing really is at stake.

He is not hungry anymore.
