Marilyn 'Diva' Manson: Police Called
- Artists:
- Marilyn Manson »
Kansas International Raceway was just another gig on the 'Freakers Ball' tour, until a barrier was pushed down, not once, but twice, and the pop-icon Marilyn Manson stormed offstage. Police were then called and 12,000 fans were left disapointed.
According to reports, some fans then 'rushed the stage' and bottles were thrown at security. Chaos then took over and around 100 police used irritant sprays in an attempt to control the crowd. Only a few minor injuries were reported by ambulances who rushed to the scene.
Expect an announcement about a court case to follow any day now - won't these mtv-rock-gods/promoters ever learn?
DiScuss: What's the most chaos you've ever witnessed at a gig? Don't you hate laying out loads of money only for the gig to be a waste of time or cut short or some idiot(s) ruining it for you? Are there any associations for gig-goers like football fan associations to ensure we get value for money?

most chaos ever
His head...
If he plays on and barriers go down again and people get killed or injured, then the man gets sued by legal-happy americans...
If he doesn't stop, then all the Yank goth-jocks go mental...
lose lose situation.

Re: most chaos ever
As the Manics hit the stage, a bloke next to me pulled someone else to the ground and repeatedly thumped him in the head. The tannoy announcer advised anyone with young kids to take them as far back as possible.
It was a mad mad day. When the last note of You Love Us got played, we just ran for it. From the point of view of the Manics' performance, it was one of their most exciting that I've ever seen, but the crowd were diabolical. When they came back on after Nicky got a bottle to the head, they just shouted the rest of the set at us...

Elastica, Reading '94/Foo Fighters, Reading '95
The Foo Fighters at Reading '95 is pretty legendary as mass near-death experiences go (clever promoter puts ex-drummer of Biggest Band In World's brilliant new band on small stage in small tent; entire festival tries to cram into tent; sweaty terror ensues), but there were similar scenes during Elastica's set in the same tent the year before - again, several thousand punters cram into tent, Elastica play opening bars of 'Connection', entire crowd tries to pogo at the same time and falls over sideways.
That's a lot of weight for a lot of little legs.

Re: Elastica, Reading '94/Foo Fighters, Reading '9
Wonderful.
No-show at the Astoria
At about 2am with most of the mosh-pit well oiled the lights came on and the announcer announced Babyshambles wouldn't be playing.
There was a stage invasion then a full scale riot when the 'Security' got violent.
Of course they got away with it despite complaints. No one, including the 'artists' really gives a fuck about the fans.
