Electric Six Scrap Single Plans

Electric Six have scrapped plans to release their cover of Queen's 'Radio Ga Ga' as a single, simply because they don't have time to finish its video in time for the Xmas market, DiS is gutted to learn.
Instead, the track will feature on a re-issued version of their debut album 'Fire', which comes out on Dec 1st. The CD will come with a bonus DVD containing the band's three promo videos.
'Radio Ga Ga' was written by Queen's drummer, Roger Taylor, and was originally released 20 years ago. The video features the infamous hand clapping sequence, as well as clips from silent film 'Metropolis'. Electric Six started to cover the song at the end of their gigs, without realising how popular the song had been outside America...

AAARRRRGGGH!
Why are bands doing this? I seem to be buying lots of stuff, only for a 'better' edition to come out shortly afterwards. There was Elbow last week (and they did it on the first album too) and now Electric Six.
Elbow are at least selling the bonus DVD separately for £4.99 if you already have the album... but they should knock at least a couple of quid off that, because it sounds reasonable until you consider what you will pay in total when you add the initial CD cost. Y'know, as one of those people who bought the album first week and put the ruddy thing in the top ten so they could state the fact in their ads...

Fair point.
Re: AAARRRRGGGH!
i could add placebo to your list
the bonus cd would be the only reason to buy the new album, as its without a doubt their worst album to date. and their covers arent actually too bad
...especially the depeche mode one
i have yet to buy the album, i dont think i will

Re: AAARRRRGGGH!
placebo's new album i have to agree is bad.... but i went out and bought the latest edition because of the covers cd, as that is decent.
Add Feeder to that list too....

i know the feeling
Sleeping With Ghosts isn't as good as the previous lot but it does have some gems. I'm still considering buying the special ed just for the covers cd but it's still bloody irritating.
