Silverchair: RIP?

Aussie grungers not to split...

At the weekend a Sydney newspaper reported 'rumours' that Silverchair are about to split up. But the band have announced on their official website (chairpage.com) that they are just "taking a break".

According to their management "the band currently has no recording or touring plans but that certainly doesn't mean that they won't ever record or tour again. It just means that after a really intense few years, they're each spending some time on non-Silverchair activities for a change. This is extremely common for bands who have been together for a decade...They all remain very good friends and there is absolutely nothing standing in the way of them making music together again in the future."

At the moment Daniel Johns is making an album with Paulmac. Chris is producing and recording "stuff". And Ben has just finished travelling and is possibly going to feature in an indie film over the coming year.

There is however news of live CD / DVD package is about to be released.

The Track Listing for 'Live From Faraway Stables' is:

DiScuss: Would you be happy if they split? Was the last record a bit too Coldplay? Anyone heard the rumoured rumour that Imbruglia and Johns have become sex addicts and can't leave the house? Who'd blame him?

Re: well

I very much doubt that.

i love silverchair, i have a lot of respect for them, especially daniel. diorama was just different but it's amazing, a very clever album.

well

fact silverchair are my fav band ever and have released some of the greatest music ever i will have to point to the fact that they have indded evolved from the 15 year old grungsters to master cinematic songwriters. serioulsy listen to diorama and you'll change your opinion of them!!!!!
they went on a hiatus after neon ballroom, the across the night tour also enforced how far they have come musicallly
