December 1 - Glasgow - Braehead Arena
December 3 - Cardiff - International Arena
December 5/6 - London - Alexandra Palace

Tickets go on sale 9am September 26.

The single, '12:51' which is much better than the critics reckon, but not as good as the NME says it is is out October 6th. And it's not a casio keyboard either. It's a guitar.

No-one will send us the album yet, in case an advanced copy is used as a bargaining tool by Al Qaeda to destroy the western world. So we don't know what it sounds like. We weren't invited to sit in a cold, stony room with P Diddy's bodyguards for company so we could scrawl a few notes on it either, sorry. Christ it's only an album...

'Room On Fire' is out to buy on October 20. We don't know if you get a security guard to go home with each album to ensure that you don't MP3 it in so that a small pygmy tribe in outer Venezuela don't hear it. Because apparently they're the only 17 people in world who don't know who they are. And damn it, they're gonna buy the album.

Look, I am excited about the album, I really am, but it's all so... do you know what I mean?

The Strokes

WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY? They're so desperately average! I've given it a go, I really have. Watched them at Reading. Bought 'Is This It'. I like some of the stuff, especially 'The Modern Age' and 'Hard To Explain'. But it doesn't actually EXCITE me, and so many bands do. Can someone explain why this band are held in such high esteem compared to other bands, when they're merely 'pretty good'?

There were two new articles on Drowned In Sound when I looked tonight: one on The Strokes, one on The Wildhearts. Now, I know I'm biased because The Wildhearts are my second favourite band. But seriously, one band just plods along nicely (have you heard 12:51? Der de der de der deeeeeeeeeeeeer deeeeeeeeer. Repeat ad infinitum - listen to it if you think I made that up) and the other makes me glad to be alive. The band that isn't The Strokes can't get mainstream radio play, can't get mainstream music TV coverage (I'm talking MTV here), can't get a single column inch in the NME. WHAT IS WRONG WITH EVERYONE?

I didn't slag of the whole article, just the bit where it suddenly tailed off into incoherence. I guess that's not quite 'constructive' criticism, but it's selective criticism at least.
I mean, someone's got to keep up the standards - why can't that someone be anyone?

A new album by The Hypes, eh? I hope they've learned how to write lyics, 'cos the last set were appalling.... but maybe it's just a case of rich kids not having particularly interesting lives... it's not like they've ever had to FIGHT for the right to exist... For some reason have this irrational contempt for anyone who's so thoroughly worshipped by the 'beautiful' people.
