Fat Cat: Double CD and 2-Day Festival

The finest electronica and off-kilter label in the land reaches year six and celebrates with a shindig at Union Chapel, and a retrospective compilation...

Anyone with a morsel of knowledge about music at the moment loves and/or respects the wonderous world of Brighton-based label Fat Cat Records, home of twinkly lo-fi electronicaists Sigur Rós, Múm, Jap-Noize-Eaters Xinlisupreme and underground gems like Set Fire to Flames, Black Dice and Giddy Motors. The label has also been a temporary residence for Bjork, Kid606 and loads more...

To celebrate six brilliant years of great music, the retrospective 'Branches & Routes', featuring rare, remixed & unreleased tracks is out in July [tracklisting below]. And to promote the release and concrete the label's place in music history, they're putting on a two-day festival @ Union Chapel, in Islington, London. The line-ups are still to be confirmed but are "very likely" (accordian to the pr peeps) to be:

August
1st Sigur Ros, Fennesz, Animal Collective
2nd Múm, David Grubbs, Mice Parade

Ticket info and all that jazz is still be announced, but get your diary emptied.

Anyway, the compilation not only has an unreleased Sigur Rós track but previews forthcoming FatCat albums by HiM [not to be confused with BMG rock-suckers], Crescent [not to be confused with dropped scouse-suckerz!], and Party of One. The tracklisting for 'Branches & Routes' is as follows...
