The much-anticipated greatest hits collection from Feeder has been given a release date. The Singles (mad love for the thought that went into that title, boys) will hit Virgin Express shelves on May 1st, preceded by a single, 'Lost & Found', on April 24th.
Containing no fewer than 20 tracks - actually, exactly 20 - the collection will feature a trio of new songs. That's the single and two others, 'Burn The Bridges' and 'Save Us'. A new studio album proper is expected in 2007.
Yes, the headline's a play on Little Shop Of Horrors. Deal with it.

Boredom.
What can we expect from the new songs?
Let me see:
- Terrible lyrics that are slightly related to Lee's death, like: "Since you left me here alone, I've been waiting by the phone."
- Anti-climatic chorus
- Embarrassing video, with lots of close ups on the singer, looking thoughtful, but determined. Will be in black and white.
That said, I'll probably get the album. I was obsessed with them from being 11 to 13, and still find their pop rock stuff pretty entertaining. Comfort In Sound was fairly good too. Just a shame they can't get over the dead drummer.
!
"The Singles (mad love for the thought that went into that title, boys)"
To be honest, they've never been the most creative have they?
I might get this
i dont own Yesterday Went To Soon and the at least they are putting 3 new songs on it unlike some bands ( Gun's N Roses anyone?). Hopefully the new songs are a bit more lively than the last 2 albums
because Feeder are so very average.
My interest in them flickered slightly when they brought out Comfort In Sound, but looking back it was also another average album in a long string of average albums. Did I mention they are quite average? Averageaverageaverage.
"much-anticipated"
ah aha aha ah aha aha aha ahaha a....
!
I noticed that too, the average and extremely boring recent albums have highlighted now boring they've been all along really no?

Feeder are good
People saying feeder are average and boring are average and boring themselves. They must be doing something right to have lasted this long.
Spot on, Wrighty
Comfort in Sound was pretty good, 'cos in spite of some rubbish lyrics, there at least seemed to be some kind of genuine feeling in it. The last album was rubbish though, it just felt like a horribly contrived attempt to recreate Comfort in Sound. I really can't see Feeder ever making anything close to a decent album again... (Having said that, I'll still end up buying the Singles collection too!)
Same thing as Westlife...
They've been shifting more units than most indie bands...
The scientists at Baggsycorp
Have tested this thesis using subjects such as Paul Daniels, Damon Albarn, The Scorpions and U2.
Alas the scientists in our labs consist of a GNVQ science evening class and subsequently found the results inconclusive as to the exact definition of "doing something right" and it's effects on longevity. However professor Special Brew at the University of Hard Knocks is alleged to be making a breakthrough in similar research testing the thesis of "doing something wrong".
The blandness and repetition has apparently rendered as endearing by a wide spread of demographics who regard them as safe and enjoyable as white bread rolls, chips and The Rolling Stones.
Legends
Lost and Found = Tune.
I love Feeder and am looking forward to this. Comfort in Sound is their best album, still Feedery. I liked PTS after a good few listens, but it went in the wrong direction. THe new tracks seem to have U Turned and are sounding like YWTS/Echo Park Feeder.
I concur
Lost and Found is a gem, just what I was hoping for. Just heard a clip of it on myspace. If they carry this sound into their next album, it should be a good one
Well I like Feeder
And meh to those who don't.
Shatter was a great song, I thought. Reminiscent of old-school Feeder.
And I'm still looking forward to the re-scheduled gigs as well.
...
It's ten years this year since I sent off for the free 2 track Feeder cassette in Kerrang - I was 15 and they excited me. Now I'm 25 and they bore me to tears!
They're one of those bands that had some great songs, but a lot of average ones too. And for me, they never managed to capture the vibe of their early live shows on record.
...
i remember when i was a little girl and feeder were awsum, now i am a grown up and they are not quite do awsum, although i still love their old styff. Shatter=chooon!
disappointing as their recent output is,
i think if you lost a drummer to suicide you'd find it difficult to get over, too.
Other news: i once threw an orange at Taka. Not a tangerine.
15 is grown up now?
i'm 20 and i'm not a grown up yet... :-P
Don't get the album. There's literally hundreds of thousands of better albums you could buy for less money that you would enjoy much much more.
Why spend money on mediocrity?
I don't understand people...
well,
me and my mates once met Taka at a Feeder gig in Exeter, back in 1999 or something.
He was stood by the bar, trying to buy a pint of Grolsch.
Except he couldn't say Grolsch.
The barmaid was getting very fed up with him, and so my friend had to translate and buy the pint for him.
Bless...
When you put it like that,
Fa, its not worth the money really.
But to Thommo. I wouldn't get over it, but I wouldn't let it curse the rest of my music. I think five years is enough time to move on from your mate hanging himself. Either he was a major part of their 'popness', or Grant Nicholas is a boring tart.
Look at New Order. They didn't sit around writing crap about dying and feeling sorry for themselves.
"they don't sit around writing crap about dying and feeling sorry for themselves".
Nope, they just sit around writing crap.
