Marr and Massive Attack on new records

New albums update: in the pipeline are releases by Massive Attack and former Smiths man Johnny Marr (pictured).

Marr has already released an album with his band The Healers, 2003's Boomslang, and another is due in the Spring.

Original Healers Zak Starkey and one-time Kula Shaker bassist Alonza Bevan have been replaced, with the band now made up of Marr, David Tolan on drums, Iwan Gronow on bass and guitarist James Doviak. Marrhas also contributed guitar parts to a new album of Jane Birkin covers, featuring Rufus Wainwright and Tom Waits on vocals.

Massive Attack are also planning a new release - the follow up to 100th Window has a working title of Weather Underground (um, didn;t Geneva have a record called that?).

Seven tracks are already finished, and a greatest hits compilation is also on the way, called Collected. It'll be released in March, with a single, 'Live With Me', due on March 13th.

Collected will come as a double-disc set, including rare and remixed material.

Ha

Massive Attack covering Geneva would be rather hilarious. If odd.

Boomslang

was the worst thing since Hitler. Fact.

i saw them supporting oasis

and they were, in fact, cack.

If they were a new band without Jonny Marr in them, they would never ever have been signed.

*sigh*

The Smiths were great

I had hopes

this would be about an Andrew Marr/Massive Attack collaboration.

I like Johnny Marr

Sounds like he put up with a lot of shit with The Smiths (practically managing them himself, covering up Andy Rourkes drug addiction from Morrissey etc), and yet he could do nothing about the band splitting up

Better than Titus Bramble though.

Slightly.
