Twelve months ago it was so peaceful, so tranquil, daytime radio airwaves. Yes, we had Westlife and their spawn, delivering ballads to mums about the land, but they were easily ignored; also, we had the enduring Robbie, remaining chirpy and cheeky alongside the new batch of made-by-telly stars. Then, suddenly, Blunt.

James Blunt has emerged as the most successful artist of 2005, based on sales, anyway. His 'You're Beautiful' single was officially the fourth best-selling record of its kind, while its parent album, Back To Bedlam, sold more copies than any other long-player in 2005. You people, you make us sick.
