If it seems like a little while since Los Campesinos! furnished us with more details about their upcoming second album PROPER, that's because it is. This time, however, we will not be left wondering what the on earth is going on, as they've announced the album title, tracklisting and release date for it. Hoo-rah!
The album is called Romance Is Boring and, according to frontman Gareth, is:
"A record about the death and decay of the human body, sex, lost love, mental breakdown, football and, ultimately, that there probably isn’t a light at the end of the tunnel."
Sounds fun then. It's released on February 1 2010 through Wichita and will be preceded by a single, 'There Are Listed Buildings' (video below) which will be out November 2.
The track listing is as follows:
- In Medias Res
- There Are Listed Buildings
- Romance Is Boring
- We've Got Your Back (Documented Minor Emotional Breakdown #2)
- Plan A
- 200 - 102
- Straight In At 101
- Who Fell Asleep In
- I Warned You: Do Not Make An Enemy Of Me
- Heart Swells/100-1
- I Just Sighed. I Just Sighed, Just So You Know
- A Heat Rash In The Shape Of The Show Me State; or, Letters From Me To Charlotte 13.The Sea Is A Good Place To Think Of The Future 14.This Is A Flag. There Is No Wind
- Coda: A Burn Scar In The Shape Of The Sooner State
In case you're wondering, 15 tracks is in fact the optimum length for any record, so they've got that one sewn up at least. The album was recorded and mixed between March and June of this year in various places - Seattle, Connecticut, Monmouthshire (that's in Wales) with John Goodmanson, who produced it. It also features guest appearances from Jamie Stewart of Xiu Xiu, Zac Pennington and Jherek Bischoff.

Yeah
Bit of a cock up there surely...still I'm excited.
so there's that
and also the fact this is their third album. not their second.
Actually, Gar had a bit of a paddy at people calling WAB,WAD their second album
'Cuz he's an awkward git.
As Gareth repeatedly said WABWAD wasn't an album
it was a record. Make of that what you will but in the eyes of the band it's their second album.
CORRECT.
I CAN'T COUNT.
WRONG.
As I wrote. Second album PROPER.
alright well
i'm not gonna argue it too much, although i fail to see how it's not an album, just because he pretentiously claims it isn't.
WABWAD isn't an album
For legal, contractual type reasons.
(As well as conceptual ones but I suppose that's less of a concrete thing)
In more relevant news: I am superfuckingexcited about this album.
Yeah. I agree tbh.
but it's not particularly important...
Whatever you call it...
The last release was a collection of new songs, an album! The fact it was shit in comparison to the first doesn't make it any less of an album. Really hope the third can go some way to making amends...
We Are Beautiful is the better album of the two but still not that great altogether
Third time lucky perhaps?
