Several long months have passed since The Decemberists released Hazards of Love (reviewed here) but upon is now is a rather delightfully constructed video for 'The Rake's Song', taken from that very album.
It was made and directed by students of Central St. Martins College of Art, specifically Alex Dashino and Varvara Volodina, who are second year Moving Image students at the college.
Colin Meloy, famously of The Decemberists, said of the video:
"Any video referencing Baba Yaga, that lovable Russian folktale mainstay, is A+ in my book."
And quite right he is.
They also happen to be playing London twice next month. Dates below:
18 - London, Forum
19 - London, Coronet
Before that, however, they've got three shows in their native America:
October
18 - San Francisco, Treasure Island Festival
19 - Los Angeles, UCLA Royce Hall
24 - Portland, Kids' Show at Kennedy School
And now the showpiece, with bright colours a-plenty:
