Nirvana's Bleach to get 20th anniversary reissue

Nirvana really need no introduction. Nor does their rock 'n' raw debut, Bleach. Well, it's 20 years old this year, and to celebrate this Sub Pop have announced that it's getting the full reissue treatment.

Bleach: Deluxe Edition will include a previously unreleased live performance from 1990, super-special packaging with the first run of the double-LP on 180g white vinyl, just like the original LP. The release date is November 3, and will be available for pre-order at SubPop.

The live show on the second disk is from February 9 1990 at the Pine Street Theatre in Portland, Oregon and features all your favourites from that time, plus the oft-covered Vaselines track 'Molly's Lips'. Bleach producer Jack Endino re-mixed it all for your listening pleasure, so be grateful.

As is often the way with these reissues now the CD format seems to be well and truly going down the pan, there'll be a 48 page CD booklet and/or 16 page LP booklet with previously unseen/unreleased photos of the band larking around.

You probably know the tracklisting by now, but here it is again.

I wonder if Jason Everman will get his $600 back this time round? What's Chad Channing up to these days?

The best Nirvana record.

Don't let the young upstart pop-punk fan new jacks fool you.
It's cuz it's the sludgiest.

nah

I was always a fan on In Utero myself

best record

20 years!? shit i must be old.

Last one heard of

Jason Everman he had joined the navy after leaving soundgarden and being in a couple of other bands and I don't think he ever got his money back...! Chad Channing was in a band called the Fire Ants when he was interviewed for kurt cobain's 10 year suicide anniversary. Fuck I feel so so old now!

Put it into perspective, grunge is to today's teens as punk was to us, something that happened fifteen odd years ago and people inexplicably still bang on about, fifteen odd years before punk older people were going on about Beatlemania and the teens of then had no idea what their parents were raving about then...

I suppose with

the 'with the lights out' and 'outcesticide' sets means the tupac style well of unreleased cobain tapes has finally run dry, thank god!

No vision in the video

It's sad that the video is drentched with 90's imagery. I keep thinking I'm watching the EMF video. But this video and band spoke to the "grunge" generation aka. Gen X as a savior to what music would be today. By the way, I hate the word "grunge". Rock-n-roll was being born again by the time Bleach was out. It's like 'amyblue' was saying, this is our Beatlemania for the today 30 somethings. I'm glad they are reissuing it.

I'll vote In Utero too

Bleach is far far too ordinary and run of the mill for me.

If Nirvana had replicated this album they would never have climbed out of the Mudhoney league.

I've never really felt the second half

but y'know, a fine record that deserves as much attention as it can possibly take from Nevermind

Top album.

But Incesticide was my personal favourite - looser, more relaxed, more...fun.

Love all their stuff though. Doesn't tend to get much of an airing these days cos I played 'em so much first time around. This'll spur me on to make amends and revisit an immense back catalogue.

Surely it was just looser because it wasn't a proper album though.

In Utero is my favourite album of all time

dale crover drumming on papercuts

what could have been if he could ever have been tempted to leave the Melvins...

Well yeah.

In Utero is my favourite 'proper album'.
