Say Hello to the New Face of DiS...

You may have noticed that DiS has changed somewhat compared to how it looked yesterday.

We did threaten, six months ago when we re-jigged the arse-end of the site, that a new layout was forthcoming - so here we are. This new design has been many months in the making and follows a lot of input from many of you (thank you one 'n' all for that). We do hope you like what we've done to the place.

A lot of the changes, especially on the frontpage, are ruddy obvious but we must stress (read also: apologise in advance) that there are still some teething problems which we're currently ironing out. We're also sorry for the brief outages and slight quirks today - especially in the past few hours - but it'd seem we've ridden out the worst of it now.

Have a wander around the site, and please comment below if you find anything you like, dislike or if you discover anything that's broken. We're aware of about 32 issues (I may or may not be making this number up) - and we haven't had chance to revamp absolutely every section of the site... yet!

We can assure you that exciting new features are incoming as part of our ongoing improvements. In the coming days and weeks you'll spot further improvements to our listings, photo galleries and also to our news service (really excited about a newsfeed partnership we're working on), as well as little tweaks to the community features and boards to make them much betterer.

Thanks again for your patience, continued constructive feedback and kind words of encouragement.

Sean & Tom

P.S. We're throwing a party in central London tomorrow, and you're all invited. I say a 'party', but it's more like a gathering of the great and the good to celebrate the fact the new site is up and to get some face-to-face reactions and suggestions from you, as well as to commiserate the fact we're not at SXSW this year (damn you advertising-downturn-due-to-the-recession!). We'll be upstairs at the Texas Embassy, just off of Trafalgar Square from 6-9pm tomorrow (Tuesday 16th March 2009). If you're in a band or run a label, you're very welcome to bring along any promo goodies you'd like to dish out to us and our readers. No need to RSVP. More details in my blog.

Great stuff guys!

Everything just looks nicer. Functionality much improved too.

SWISH.

Looking good

I'm finding it easier to get to grips with the new DiS layout than I did with the new Facebook layout last week. :-S
The number of comments shown at top of article is a nice touch, not sure if that's new but I don't remember seeing it before. Why are Liars mentioned at the top as being in this article though, when they're not?

cus i used their artwork (...drowned...) as the image

and because we're really excited that they have a new album forthcoming :)

made sense to me...

...can't wait for an excuse to write about Liars again...

I reeeeeally like the new layout!

:)

the new layout is a definite improvement :)

however, i don't like the popout when you click on a video, it stops me doing anything else and is slow and cumbersome

Great improvement

great stuff.

you guyz

are probably the best music website. ever. and i'm from america, your bastard child. i figured it out when i was about ten; all the best music comes from england. unabashed anglophilia here. and i'm of irish ancestry.

i probably should just kill myself now...

Hat's off to you both on the new layout.

I really like the band link and label link at the top of reviews. They way things all link (band page -> label page -> to see bands on that label -> to go to another band -> to read one of those band's reviews etc etc) is great.

One small technical hitch I've found. In IE6 (where else?) The "Recent albums" bit (under the revolving Feature banner) doesn't link to the review. The HoverOver bit works fine, giving me the artist & title below, but the linkies are nee there.

Looks rather swish.

Bonjour le nouveau visage de DiS

you look nice...

Well done!

looks nice

shame it won't load on my iPhone.

The 'Back To The Music Forum' Button

is great. I've wanted to suggest that for ages but I thought I would come across as a lazy ass for not just scrolling back to the top.
Top marks over all.
