Well-turned out, former Scottish scruffian poetic grunge-punks, iDLEWiLD are set to perform all their albums.
With a teenage wriggle of excitement not felt since hearing that Ash were to play 1977 in an ATP-Don't-Look-Back-style; DiS is pleased to share the news that Idlewild have announced a five-night-stand at the legendary King Tut's in Glasgow, where they will play their back catalogue in its entirety.
Taking place in December, featuring an album a night, the dates for your diary, if you manage to get a ticket, are as follows:
December
Wed 17th Hope Is Important & others
Thurs 18th 100 Broken Windows
Fri 19th The Remote Part
Sat 20th Warnings/Promises & Acoustic set
Sun 21st Captain & Make Another World
Tickets went on sale this morning. There are 250 tickets per night, priced £15 or you can buy one of 50 tickets for all 5 nights for £50 (some reason this doesn't seem to be currently available). Tickets available from gigsinscotland.com and kingtuts.co.uk.
In other news Roddy has a new solo album
DiScuss: could this be the end for Idlewild? Which show are you going to? Did you form a band because of Idlewild? Would you be listening to the music you listen to today if it wasn't for Roddy name checking little known American acts? Ditto authors and philosophers? How many times have you seen them? Think I've seen them thirty times, should I be embarrassed about this?

So...
Who'll be first to make a joke about how the Warning/Promises night will have virtually no-one going.
I can't make it alas, I liked that album *watches all his credibility vanish into the wind*
i like how
they've grouped Captain with Make Another World there...
One of those solo albums
that's co-performed, written and credited to two other people?
Warnings/Promises
has 4 excellent songs. Worthy of the name Idlewild.
why would this be the end for idelwild?
they played a new song in bristol a few weeks back and roddy has said they're recording a new lp in jan 09.
no-one thought biffy would split after they did exactly the same thing.
think the 5day ticket is unavailable because it's sold out. i got a remote part ticket - would have loved 100bw to but was too slow.
I'd probably go to 100 BW and Hope ones
if it was in London
its true
the 5 night pass sold out almost instantly this morning at 9.30 am
i got tickets for the hope is important one and the 100 broken windows one
the remote part night is also sold out, so the only thing left is warnings+promises & make another world+ captain
craigx
and i hav seen them
loads more times than 30, and i aint embarassed about it in the slightest
i love every album as much as each other and iv been into them since 1999
see its possible to love captain etc and also the newer stuff... just
craigx
yup
let's hope they tour it...
even though i'm looking at the confirmation screens
i'm still worried that i've done something wrong somewhere and haven't actually bought the tickets! i don't think i'll believe it until i have them in my hands.
This is brilliant.
I managed to get one of the passes to all five.
I actually can't wait!
Apparantly they plan on performing "every song that they've written", and the concerts will be recorded and released next year:
:D
Cannot wait...
100 Broken Windows is the greatest album ever recorded anywhere in the universe, so the Thursday is going to be an absolute treat.
Imagine they got Bob up to play a track or two, that'd be brilliant. Probably won't happen, sadly
Hope is Important, wed17th?
Hmmm... very tempting. I hope the 'others' includes Captain EP.
The Captain EP is mentioned
It's been coupled with Make Another World on the Sunday
Holy fucking shit.
I'd snap that shit up so quick it'd be blue like Sonic the Hedghog.
5 day pass ahoy
for me! but i was on the ball. they were gone by 09:36am.
this is going to be phenomenal!
I'd go and see Warnings/Promises for the Acoustic set.
Some of the older songs have a different dimension with the acoustic style.
someone said on the boards
that's hes playing the first 3 nights ...
just got tickets to the hope is important night
:D
i missed out when biffy did this.
I doubt it..
Although, I can see them bringing Gavin Fox up to the stage for the W/P gig.
really ?
how boring is that ?
rem karaoke nights..
the new guy
will only get to play one night then if bob does play and they bring gavin up on the w/p night.
i'd be gutted after learning all those songs for the best of and b sides gigs!
Hope is Important
gig booked for me. Would've loved a 5 day pass. There's already a wanker trying to sell 100 Broken Windows night tickets for 50 quid each.
So happy
I can't wait for this.
Especially the first few nights, the two best albums.
I wish I lived in Scotland now
Although I'd end up spending loads of money on going to all five. Oh well, I'll take solace in the fact that they played Captain and Listen To What You've Got when I last saw them last year.
I would love to go to the
Hope Is Important & 100 Broken Windows nights. I would love to hear Low Light live. Scotland is a bit too far for me though.
hahahaha
that was me and i was taking the piss. did you not see the bit about flying pigs being the warm up act?
hrmm
the post above was meant to reply to the bit about timmy reading on the boards that bob will play the first 3 nights.
Make Another World
Is the only one not sold out so far.
There are ten good reasons for this.
I'm
actually really surprised that it's not sold out, what with 'Captain' being played that night and all.
Ah
I think that's cos they're (apparently) playing Captain acoustically. Which is clearly madness.
if this is true
i want my money back
It's all sold out!!!!
Mierda mierda mierda.
No
Captain/ Make Another World still available on Ticketmaster.
That'd actually be my second choice after 100 Broken Windows...
